A super important game for both teams, but especially Mentor. Starting the season against Eds and Ignatius is a tough obstacle for a team that brings back just three offensive players from last year. Mentorís defense will need to be in mid-season form right from the start.

The Eagles have experience and talent at the skill positions along with a returning starter at QB. I donít know much about their line, but it has often been huge and skilled. Defensively, I think the Eagles will eventually be good - but how great of right away in Week 1? Mentor has more experience returning on defense.

I think this is a 50/50 game. I donít think Mentor will beat Ignatius, so it would really be nice to get this first win and take off some of the pressure that comes with possibly starting 0-2.

With the Eagles returning a lot of Varsity players and knowing that Mentor ended their season last year, I expect them to start strong but the game will even out as it goes on.

I share similar thoughts on this matchup. The Eagles appear to have an edge offensively with what they return, but can we really ever dismiss a Mentor offense no matter who returns on that side of the ball? And with the benefit of that fantastic Mentor offensive line, I wouldn't be surprised to see them come out humming (especially in front of a charged crowd at JTO). It could definitely be birth by fire for a lot of the new faces on the Ed's defense. I'll be interested to see how they fare in their last scrimmage against Massillon, a team that boasts perhaps the best receiving duo in the state and a bruising running back.

One would expect the Cardinals to throw the ball all over the field and the Eagles to try to establish the run early in a new season. But personnel for both teams this year could see just the opposite...this is a tough game to call in week 1 and should be exciting.

Go Eagles!
