Jon Conklin from Massillon Jackson has been ripping the cover off the ball. Has to well over 500 BA and even better slugging percentage.

First I am not saying that anyone listed on this thread is not deserving. Thats my disclaimer LOL. High School batting averages are hard to determine IMO. SO MANY teams cook their books or are inconsistent with their scoring that it is hard to compare. Some teams are playing Moeller competition, while others are playing inner city schools who are fielding kids that are beginners. We also have kids that we play here in central ohio that will hit into FC or errors and they are listed as hits in the papers. Its an injustice to everyone. All of you know this is true. The kids in my list I have seen in the summer vs d1 talent on the mound. They are very good. There are many many more that are studs, it just is hard to know them all so it will be good to learn of them here.

Mansfield Buckeye is so right. You really can't compare quality D1 teams and even players to, say D3 or below. Just not the same level of competition day in and day out. This isn't summer travel/tournament baseball. Not that the D3 and below teams don't have talented kids, but just fewer of them, than the bigger schools. More pitching depth, tougher day to day comp, means that higher batting averages may be more difficult to maintain at certain levels of play, than a typical D3 or D4 team faces weekly. Also makes me a little crazy to see various PBR pre season All State players in D3 and below, made up of some kids who simply don't have the talent of some D1 kids, who barely get a mention, due to the level of talent in D1/D2. In the end, the pre season stuff doesn't really count much, it's the product, and production put forth by the teams and players throughout the season.

You obviously have not watched any of these kids before. Craig Lewis is the best hitter In the county, while 2&3 can be a toss up between Kap and Cardona. I have watched both play and both can swing it. 4 & 5 would be Drew Potesta from Ursuline and Joe Machuga from Canfield.

I have seen them all play quite a few times, I wasn't ranking them in any particular order. Sorry if I offended you by leaving some players names off the my list. The names you provided would also be my list

I'm sure the majority of all these kids listed are fine hitters. That being said, just listing high school stats, and using that as a barometer to determine the best hitters in the state doesn't always tell the complete story. The level of competition, specifically opposing pitchers faced on a game by game basis is much more accurate. In a given week, as an example, a typical Fed league team will face much better pitching competition against teams such as Jackson, Hoover, etc, than a kid from other conferences. Throw in non league games vs Massillon, Aurora, Walsh, etc, and you can bet you don't see much better pitching anywhere in the state. So, don't expect to see some ridiculous 500 or higher batting averages from kids facing the likes that level of quality pitching.

Plus a lot of the good hitters dont get pitched to. 2 players I know personally,
both going to Wright State are both hitting .400 with multiple hr's but they have a combined 55-60 walks and 15 IBBs (Intentional Walks.) I am sure this also happens to a lot of the kids on this list. .That is an overlooked stat for sure

Nice player. According to PBR, he is uncommitted. 2.4-2.5 pop times at his primary position of catcher. 82 exit velo. Probably not going to Texas Christian. They are almost done with that class most likely. Could be Tennessee Christian maybe, or Trevecca christian. IF he does go to TCU that would be fantastic for him and for our state!
