He did. A game at Cedarville I believe. But definitely Jason Collier at the he level for me. My cousin went to a Sadie Hawkins dance with him when she cheered for Central and I saw him play in the state championship game.

To narrow it down a bit, how about the best you PLAYED against?

Although he went onto play college football instead, one of my top two would have been Bobby Hoying of St Henry (OSU/NFL fame) .

Also was a kid who played 8th grade as a 7th grader and then went to Northwestern and the NBA but could not stay healthy-Evan Eshmeyer.

To answer the question above.

Best I ever played against: Kevin Porter
Best I ever played with: Jim Cleamons (I'm pretty sure but I didn't ask. Looked like him)

Truth in advertising, I was walking by the court on the base on my way to the weight room to push 30lb stacks on the universal. 9 guys for some reason could not start their game unless it was 5 on 5 and I got recruited. Wash Bullets frequented the courts, playing against some base guys. It's a WHOLE different level of fast when you're on the same court with them. And jumping? smh. They passed me the ball a couple times, slowed up enough I could pass it to someone else. I even dribbled it up court once. 5 minutes and the tenth showed up to my relief. Lifetime memory though.

He's by far the best high school player I've ever seen. Just like you said, he looked like a grown man playing with little kids with how so far beyond he was over everyone else. My dad and my uncle (both Lower Merion grads) and my brother and cousin used to go to tournament games together and we always went to the full weekend of state championship games in Hershey every year. The year of Kobe's state championship run I remember telling my Dad I felt like I was literally watching Jordan if he decided to come play with a high school team. He was that good. The bald head jelped anlot with the Jordan look too lol.

I went to Lower Merion school district, but I went to the other high school. Kobe graduated the year behind me. Ardmore was a crazy place during his time there. Watching him play at the park in Ardmore in the summer was something special.

Who is the best HS basketball player that you've seen in person?

For anyone that doesnít Know Estaban Weaver watch his documentary. Such a great talent and we never got to see his full potential because of his off court issues.

I am from Hershey so I saw all of the championship games while I was growing up until about 1999...Billy Owens from Carlisle was another standout but nowhere near Kobe..I moved to Ohio in 2000 So I experienced Lebron (on TV)...but never got to see Mayo or Walker (raising small kids then!)

It was a standout memory for me in high school.

Saw Luke Kennard once and he was very impressive. Always seemed to be in control of the game and always cool and calm.

Ohio people and it’s before my time, but Jerry Luckas IN high school was as good as any one who ever played in Ohio. Check his numbers and team record. No one beside LeBron is even close.

Personally played against Cortez Brown from East Cleveland Shaw in the old LEL...He was in the class of '73.
Best player I competed against on the court. He stood about 5'8" I believe...called for goal tending twice in a game against us.

Also scrimmaged against JFK's Boston before an all-star competition. His team featured Mark Haymore (spelling) of Lutheran East and other sick ballers that escape my memory at the moment.

Agree.

I would actually say that Chandler Vaudrin is probably the best HS player I have ever seen. Iíve seen a few pretty good ones. Chandler was just a great all around player, no matter who we played against he always looked like the best player on the floor. He did so many different things, his shot also improved through the years and that was his main weakness. If he was a better shooter I think he would have appeared on a few peopleís list.

r

Lol. Kyle Young finished as one of the all time leading scorers in Stark County Basketball and led his team to a State Title. GTFOH with this BS. You may have seen a couple games but I saw over 40 games - no comparison.
