Hiland and IV should be at the top south. Strasburg and Sandy Valley should be top of the south. Good luck to all teams this year

Anybody have a feeling about a surprise team this year? Who is going to be the team that will be more competitive than anyone thinks?

Malvern will be very young but Tucci always gets them to play hard. They could be the surprise team of the North.

I'm a big believer in programs and coaches that have done it before, and especially those who have done it over multiple years. Next you have to look at talent.

I'm not as tuned in as I used to be but I think highly of the coaches and programs at Hiland, Garaway, Malvern, Strasburg, and TCC. IV is growing on me.

TCC is an interesting program because, some years, there's just not enough there but if you give Ty something to work with, they will be a challenge.

The program I know most about is Hiland. They are going to try to beat you with depth, fundamentals, and effort. When they have a high level of talent they are going to embarrass you. I don't think this is one of those years, so they are going to battle and we will see how far that takes them.

Coach Rowe at Garaway knows how to assemble a team and have them play as a team. Depending on how well they come together and play together, they will be dangerous.

You underestimate Denny Tucci at your own risk, but this would seem to be a year where he has to create something that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Coach Hall at Strasvegas will have his team prepared for every game and every game will be a battle.

It will be fun to see what student-athletes step forward and step up.

The IVC is wide open but it will be interesting to see who seizes the opportunity. Usually it is the schools with proven coaches and programs that instill principles as opposed to those that hope they get a talented group every now and then. FWIW

Only a few days left until it all gets going. Have to agree with ivcguy that there are a lot of good programs and coaches within the conference and it should make for a fun year of games. Good luck to all

I see TCC picked up a player from Strasburg and one from Dover in the off season. Both will be starters and that should give Tyrone something to work with.

Based on the scores that I saw, Garaway came away winners, SV won, Trail lost a close one to Barnesville, East Canton got smoked and Strasburg won.
The only score I was somewhat surprised by was the Wood and Malvern score where Wood came away with a 10 point win. Don't know much other than that Malvern should be young and Ridgewood has a new coach this year. Looking forward to the rest of the year around the league.

Junior guard from Strasburg will provide some athleticism for the Saints. Junior big from Dover will fill the void in the middle left by the graduation of Peltz (?).

Apparently there is no interest in IVC basketball this year. Sometimes I really miss the glory days of JJ Huddle, 30 pages of vitriol about a former coach, Strasburg School Board members, Strasburger, Blue Beard. Those were epic times.....I couldn't wait to see what was written next. This fall I was reading 20 pages in the football section on which teams should be in the North and South, very boring.

I agree. Sometimes I feel like I get more info searching social media. I am On here just waiting for someone to stir up some convo. haha. Maybe I will follow up with at least a thought provoking question to the group. I still think the IVC is super strong and should have a representative in the Regional in Div 3 and 4

You always hear about guards but who are the top bigs?
1. Top Big in IVC South
2. Top Big (underclassman) IVC South
3. Top Big in IVC North
4. Top Big (underclassman) IVC North

Both are good players and gonna cause some issues around the league this year. Would agree those are probably the two best.

This early in the year its hard to argue with the SV and Garaway bigs. What about underclassman? Hiland has a big Jr but I have not watched him play varsity mins yet. Young kid from Malvern is kinda like a big but spends all his time outside. Young guards are easy to find but I am not familiar with a lot of bigs that are underclassman.

After what Hiland did to Strasburg, they are looking like a favorite. Unbelievable refs missed cheap shot by Strasburg player right before halftime.

Watched the replay on Big Time Sports. Missed the cheap shot but if these two teams meet again it will be a battle. Strasburg did not shoot it well and still had the ball down 5 with under two mins to play. They have a couple talented sophs they are excited about that will be better in Feb. Do not forget the Tigers beat Hiland at Hiland week two last year. With the other scores from last week the IVC South is looking a little better than the north.

Tonight's game with Ridgewood isa home game now,I not sure if it was Ridgewood that made the change,I guess find more when I go-to the game tonight,I know it's early but Hawks look pretty decent to start the year, let's see if we can keep up the defensive pressure like we have, got some big no league games coming up this month, this Saturday against a good d-3 Cols.Grandview Hts team, then I think they are d-2 Cleveland East Tech, then our holiday showcase d-2 Tallmadge, and always a very good d-4 Mansfield St.Peters team, we'll find out how good we are at the end of the month
