I'm hearing from a little bird that Higgins, Kerr, and Ryan Fleming are not in the mix at St. X for the HC job--maybe some folks know more!

Cupps....He's better off at centerville in every way.
Kerr has too much baggage.
Fleming...I would love it, but he's not ready to get back in it yet.
Higgins...is very good...but would be his 4th school in 7 years?
Hey I'm not in the know as to all these candidates, where is Nozka from?
I also read there in this thread there might be as many as 10 candidates.

Why would the Hughes coach leave, he currently has a pipeline of many of the best CPS players coming to him!

Because his "pipeline" of players is leaving. One to Purcell and Paul M. to follow next fall. He would be better dealing with GCL kids and won't have Taft in his way.

I know there's at least one interview scheduled for next week with a candidate whose name has not been mentioned here.

Flemming would be a great long term choice, but don't think they are interviewing anyone without head coaching experience. Perhaps he would come onto the coaching staff if the current coach is given the job. The real question is IF. Was a tough season for the interim coach, but are they willing to give an X alumni another few years to stabilize the program.

Wyant is a great young coach, would be a homerun, but don't think he put in for the job. But if his players are leaving then maybe he should have thought about applying.

Anyone know if any of the ECC coaches applied for the job? Walnut or Turpin

I can't comment on players leaving because I don't know anything about that. But you say he wouldn't have to face Taft. Well if he comes to St. X there's still Moeller to contend with.

I don't know this answer at St. X, but in many high school football factories, like St. X, they are persuading the top athletes to choose football only.

I don't know the man that well, but the only reason that would make sense to move would be money!!

Did anyone watch the IMG vs Monteverde game on ESPN? The boys of Moeller better stay in Ohio.

I can assure you, Carl Kremer, and the Moeller Administration, have no intention to become the next IMG or Montaverde's of the High School world. The only people discussing if Moeller can compete in this world are you and the posters on this web site. No Moeller posters have expressed an interest for them to try to get to that level and as mentioned no one on Montgomery Rd has aspirations to get there.

Give it a rest. Winning 49 straight and back-to-back titles in Ohio is an achievement that is now apart of Ohio basketball history. Why can't that just be enough?

When does the rabbit leave the friendly confines of his school and become a HC somewhere?

If this is the case, then it's Kerr's job, all day long.

Kerr would be a strong hire for St X. It may push the GCL into a two man race for the foreseeable future with the talent Kerr and Kremer pull in.

They actually aren't that bad, just not elite. Mainly due to inconsistent coaching leading to an unstable program. Once that ship is righted they will be just fine and will begin to draw the better talent in SWO.

My guess is they hire the interm coach from this past season. Spect cant have anyone else in there who demand as much from his players as him. From what i heard Spect was on the hiring comitee. Dont look for them to hire any successful coaches from the city . The ol football coach wont have it

Kerr is the best coach out of the 4 named above. Might be more Kerr self-selecting out of the process than him not being the best choice.

What makes you think Kerr is no longer an option?

There are plenty of rumors swirling around this position. If it is down to 2 candidates, does anyone have any insight on those candidates?

Does St. X have any feeder schools to work with, like Moeller has All Saints.
Where do most St X kids come from.

At a public school, you could talk in an interview about building up from the elementary and middle schools. But what do you do to try to build up from young ages when they can go anywhere?

I think it depends on the school. Some schools will expect you to go out and find them through summer programs, AAU affiliation, attending games, showing face, etc.

Others may just expect you to coach who enrolls. Each school probably has a different philosophy about what they want their basketball program to be.

Not sure what it is at St X, but I'm guessing the expectations are towards building a state level program, which will require alot of those type of things.
