Nothing I have heard of yet. I think this position won't be filled till probably after the Holidays. If it is filled before then I would be surprised. I hope that the decision makers interview many candidates and don't rush this.

If they really want the process to work, I would expect them to accept applications for at least 3-4 weeks before even setting up interviews. If they are truly looking for the best possible hire, I would guess mid to late January before a new coach is named.

The fact that they are having interviews already sends a signal that someone within the building has applied. If that is Ward, then it's a no brainer. Give the man the job and in 2 years Monroe will be a competitive program again. If someone on the current staff applied, I am assuming Osterman. I am not sure the time table on how long the job is open to internal applicants only is but I believe it is 10 days. If that is true then Ward or Prohaska are possibilities I think.

Agreed there. Aside from Monroe Lebanon is taking forever to find a coach. You'd think they'd found one by now but, every school is different.

I saw the posting on the OHSAA website a week or so ago, so it could be outside applicants as well.

They either got flooded with applicants or they already know who they want. I don't see another reason why they are so quick to interview. It could also be that they want a coach hired fast to get the offseason program going. Just seems to me that this is going to be an internal candidate or someone the AD has connections with. Hoping they get this right.

Haven't heard a word about the process or who the committee is. I am assuming they want someone named by the time the kids return from winter break. So they have about 2 weeks or so. If I had to guess I would say Faulk, Osterman, or Snively gets the job. From talking to people in the community, a monroe guy is the consensus.

If a community only cares about a community guy getting the job instead of the best candidate, rule of thumb stay away from the job and it will open again soon.

Milton got smart and re-hired Bret Pearce as HC. Let's hope Monroe finds someone that can rebuild the program.

I am worried that they will only look at candidates with ties to Monroe as well. I am not against Faulk or Snively but other people should be interviewed that are outside of the community. I think Osterman needs a few more years as a coordinator before he takes that step. I think he is a good coordinator and I hope he stays on the staff if another candidate is chosen. I am hoping Joe Ward gets hired as the head coach, but I would be surprised if he did.

I hope Monroe interviews candidates that don't have ties to Monroe. There will be good candidates that apply and it would be wrong to not interview them.

i agree would be nice not to have a retread or a hire just because they are part of the community way too much talent out there. but who knows maybe applications were limited to a select few. time will tell

For Webster to say Monroe will be on the rise, this has to either be a candidate from the Krause coaching tree as in Snively or Chad Murphy, or it is Joe Ward or a candidate from the outside with an outstanding resume. Faulk would be a good coach for Monroe and definitely an improvement from Leach but I can’t see Webster saying Monroe will be back if it was him. After what Webster said, I would be surprised if it was anyone but Ward, Snively, or Murphy.

From my understanding, 3/4 of those listed names did not apply for the position.

Just found out the board will aprove Barak Faulk on Monday. This is definitely a step in the right direction. My biggest question is if he is going to be in the school? For this rebuild to gain some serious traction that is needed in my opinion.

He ran the 3-3 stack when he was at Mason, assuming Faulk sticks with that. I wonder what offense he will run?

This is a good hire. Hopefully he brings some of his buddies from Mason. His son is a sophomore I think? If he is to really gain success he has to get a position in the school and get his own coaches in there who actually know what they're doing. Plus he can be consistently involved in the weight program. Hopefully they run anything but the boring spread option which has gotten us no where the last 7 years but will be fun to see.

From what I know, I think Faulk is a intervention specialist at Mason. I believe I saw a position for a intervention specialist open on the Monroe Schools site a while back. My hope is he can be in the school and maybe a couple assistants as well.

I am hoping a different offense is run next season but I have my doubts whether there will be a new offense. I think attitude is going to be a big difference with Faulk coming in and I believe that will start to show come year 2.
