NFL TV Ratings

NFL TV ratings were down 9% this past year, following an 8% drop the previous years. NFL has a problem hope they recognize it and make the appropriate changes for their sake otherwise their going to kill the goose that laid the golden egg.

They missed their chance to make a positive step by removing Goodell. The owners won't care until new TV contracts are up for negotiation and they realize they'll be getting less money. Short-sighted greed.

Meh, they plateaued. It doesn’t mean the game is sliding into oblivion. It is so far out in front of every other professional sport and will remain so for a long time.

Are your figures their decline in raw viewers or their decline in share of viewers? To my understanding, tv ratings are declining across the board due to streaming services.

If overall TV ratings are down 10% and NFL ratings are down 9%, their share of viewers may have actually improved.

These are TV ratings only.

So as suspected, the #'s in the OP's post are misleading

it is perhaps worth noting that the league's 9% decline in its overall deliveries matches the 9% season-to-date drop in broadcast prime.
Quote:
according to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, NFL games accounted for 37 of the year's top 50 broadcasts, or nearly three-quarters (74%) of the most-watched programs on TV. That marked a 32% increase compared to 2016, when the NFL had 28 of the top 50 most-watched programs, and was flat versus the 37 top broadcasts the NFL had in the previous year.
NFL viewership is declining at the same, and perhaps a lower rate, than overall tv viewership is declining.
