CMAC 2019 (Adding 3 Schools 2020)

Just heard this morning that the CMAC will be adding Hillcrest and DAYTON CHRISTIAN to go along with withrow for the 2020 season. Im assuming itll look like this.

Big Division
Taft
West Hi
Woodward
Hughes
Aiken
Withrow

Small Division
Hillcrest
DC
Gamble
Riverview East
Shroder

As far as the 2019 season goes it'll be an exciting year. Taft lost a lot but will reload. Woodward lost a couple close ones in 2018 but has their core back. I can see them winning 6-7 games. West Hi has one of the best backs in the area. Aiken always has talent and will be fighting for the conference title. Hughes and Shroder will both be improved as well.

They will be fine in the small school Division. Cross over games will be tougher though.

DC won their division 3 out of the last 4 years I believe. With a playoff appearance. Reaching to say they barely complete in their league.

A bit of an odd fit geographically-my understanding was there was some bad blood or at least frustration with the MVC making DC do what the conference wanted-placing them in the larger division despite lower numbers and less competitive. That's my understanding, at least.

Dayton Christian is in the Metro Buckeye Conference for other sports, which is largely Dayton/Miami Valley based. Most schools don't offer football in the league.

My thought is when Withrow leaves the ECC that will leave 9 and the ECC will take another one from the SWOC to replace them. Probably Harrison, which could be the final nail in the SWOC coffin.

The way I understand it, the MVC wanted them to play in their Scarlet Division, which is made up of the larger schools with stronger programs. It has CHCA, Summit, NCH etc. in it. Roger Bacon and Purcell Marian will be in there starting this fall, too.

Dayton Christian is more in line for both enrollment and strength of program with the teams in the MVC Gray-Lockland, Clark Montessori, New Miami etc.

DC appealed to be put into the Gray and the MVC said Scarlet-take it or leave it.

Looks like they are leaving it.

Again, this is just my understanding-could be off.

As far as 2020, I'd like to see the small division add CCPA (Cincinnati College Prep Academy), North College Hill or St. Bernard. That lower division needs more balance or Dayton Christian is going to roll everyone.

I'd like to see Finneytown leave the CHL. MVC would be first choice but the CMAC wouldn't be a bad fit as well.

I wouldn't be totally surprised to see a few schools break off from the CHL if they could find a good home.

Finneytown and to maybe a smaller degree Deer Park are the first two schools that come to mind that may welcome an invite from the MVC or CMAC.

Both schools finished last and second to last in the CHL All-Sports standings, though. It is a little misleading though since there are numerous sports that they don't field teams for. It's a tall order for them to compete against the 4 east side schools in most sports.

Taylor is another wild card for me. I could see them maybe drifting away to another conference depending on the long term health of the SWOC. The SWOC will be losing Little Miami and may court Taylor as a replacement. The Yellow Jackets already play Ross, Harrison and other members in a number of sports and are a good fit from a location, demographic and competition standpoint. It could be more attractive to travel from Cleves to Harrison or Mt. Healthy for after school games on weekdays than Indian Hill or Madeira as they are a bit closer.
