All-American Blue Division to merge with MVAC

According to Dana Balash on Twitter...

Quote:
Blue Tier Schools In All American Conference, Brookfield, Champion, Campbell, Crestview, LaBrae, Liberty and Newton Falls submit letter of withdrawal from conference at conclusion of 2019-2020 school year.
Quote:
Blue Tier members have been invited to merge with the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference.
So this is very interesting to me. Will the Blue Division stay together under the MVAC name or will they divide all the schools into 2 divisions based on size/ability. They could also add another school as well.

The rumors in the other thread is it’s just name only, the schools won’t be inter-mingled and stay in their respective line-ups

Seems like a lateral move for all parties involved. Not sold on this being around too long

Why not? This makes sense, these schools involved, should be playing each other.... Geographically and enrollment wise, looking at this move, its a home run....

I would imagine that the teams would play the same schedule 2019 and 2020. Since the schedules are most likely already locked in. After that you will see a new alignment most likely based on competitiveness, location, and Enrollment.

Yeah that part hasnít come out yet.

But Iíll assume thatís the plan.
Springfield
WR
Mcdonald
Liberty
Brookfield
Labrae
Crestview

Will probably make one tier
The other tier will be the leftovers. Should be at least. Iím talking football too.

I wanna know how geographically it makes sense to have Brookfield and Labrae traveling to crest view, Springfield and WR and vice versa. That’s a long stroll no matter how you look at it.

Crestview has made trips so far to those schools. Plus also Edgewood, which is a helluva haul.
So I guess anything is possible.
Geography hasn’t kept Jefferson out of the NE8.
So it’s up to Superintendents and AD’s to decide just exactly who goes where.

Will be interesting to see how all this plays out.

Labrae , Brookefield, Crestview, are already in the same league. Brookfield plays both Springfield and Crestview on a regular basis. Also Labrae and Crestview have played quite often throughout the years.

Could the next step be adding the EOAC to this mix and then dividing up by size and geography? Could make two really solid small school conferences. Maybe we should name it the ITCL? Has that been used before?

I could see this but if I had to take a guess I would say the Only teams that switch will be Springfield and Western Reserve switch with Newton Falls. I only say that because Champion is the biggest team in the whole conference and McDonald could move but they are going to Drop to Div 7 so I think they stay. Who knows they might even invite more teams and we could see more than 2 divisions. Imagine if they invited the EAOC back.

Its the EOAC....and then it'd be the ITCL...again! Should've never blew that league up to begin with!

Remember the old adage: Goes around, comes around.
The old TCL and ICL breathed again with new names 2 years ago, same basic players. I mentioned it, no one listened.

Another old basic line up will shortly.

OHSAA boys base enrollments of the 2 groups:
AAC Blue:
Champion- 173
Crestview- 149
Campbell- 148
Liberty- 143
Labrae- 140 (Looks like a chance they’ll drop to D6 upcoming year)
Newton Falls- 140
Brookfield- 119

MVAC:
Waterloo- 165
Springfield- 138
Mineral Ridge- 110
Western Reserve- 104
McDonald- 97
Jackson-Milton- 96
Sebring- 65
Lowellville- 49

Competitive balance numbers and divisional/region assignments won’t be released until the referendum is voted on in May

Fantasy? Bring in JFK, move them and Brookfield to MVAC and Waterloo and Springfield to AAC. Groups the D5 and large D6 together and small D6 and D7 together.

Realistically, things probably stay as is and itíll be a set up like the PTC has/had with county and metro only playing if it was a sport where only a few schools had teams.

The days of worrying about geography are gone. Hour long bus trips to schools similar in size are becoming the norm in this area.

Nobody cares about geography until diesel hits $4/gal and suddenly everyone cares about local rivals and short drives.

There's a monetary reason. Other than that it doesn't change the AAC Blue at all, but it gives them flexibility in future to adjust configurations if need be with teams across the aisle. AAC blue won't change for now but there are financials involved.

I agree!!!! I guess that is why I'm a little skeptical of this new alignment. How long before one of the Supers get irritated and wants out? I would be curious as to what the Supers are planning for this "co-league" arraignment going down the road.

I wonder what Crestview would think of this suggestion. Cusick was not very happy with those former TCL/ITCL league schools.

They are scheduled to play Southern this year so who knows.
