The sound they made when getting ready to face Covington, Miami East or Ft Loramie in football. A whoa, order to stop, followed by an Ack, turn and run. Very appropriate.

1. Is there a news story or anything with this?

2. I'm pretty sure I suggested that in the CCC Changes thread

Nope. No news story. I'm pretty sure both sides are choosing new names. BigK they heard you.

I wouldn't say overrated. I don't think anyone is going to expect too much from the conference, so I don't know how you could consider that overrated.

Now that is funny. I agree that this will be no powerhouse conference for football but in other sports I think they can compete a little better.

Unless a team has too much success, then they're ousted

I think this will be a good change up for Dixie. Playing TVS, TCN, and Arcanum makes more sense than Bellbrook, Franklin, and Monroe .... geographically and demographically.

I do wonder about sports like tennis.

Unless things have changed in the last 20 years, few of the schools in the WOAC have tennis, or swimming or bowling or men's volleyball.

I'm not 100% sure on all of this but no school will have men's volleyball. No team in the CCC have ever had mens volleyball besides Tri Village at one time.

In the new league I believe Dixie and Arcanum will be the only schools with swimming.

I believe the only 2 schools that will have tennis will be the 2 schools joining, Preble Shawnee and Dixie. I don't know if that's something some of the other schools may look into starting. No schools have had tennis in the in the past in the CCC.

As for bowling, I know Miss Valley had a kid win state a few years back. I also think a few other schools may have bowling as well. It's hard to find info on some of these sports.

Dixie and Shawnee aren't real strong in Boys Tennis if I recall. Milton, Miami East, Lehman, Bethel and Northridge have boys tennis. I don't believe Troy Christian, Covington, Riverside have it. Bowling, Swimming and Boys volleyball will have no teams in that league.
I'm still wondering about things like Girls track, Volleyball, softball in this new league. I believe everyone has it in the CCC?

I actually believe that Bethel does not have a tennis team, and both Miami East and Bethel both have swimming teams. All teams in the current CCC have girls track, volleyball and softball.

Which league are we talking about? The WOAC or the yet to be named league with Milton, Bethel, Miami East, TC, etc.?

I think TC has a decent swimming team though but it could be cyclical based on the classes coming through.

Interesting that smaller schools have these sports. We are talking about both leagues as far as I am concerned.

Yeah the conversation in the most part has been about both leagues. I'm familiar with the current CCC schools so I was just talking about them in particular.

Seems kind of a sport out of left field. Is that a fall sport?

For this conference and rural schools in general it might seem out of left field, but otherwise not really. OHSAA is voting on it in June and, if approved, will be a sanctioned sport. In its current form, it is a spring sport. This article has a nice write-up on boys volleyball:

Out of left field?

The larger schools in Dayton suburbs have some of the best men's volleyball. I played several years of club volleyball after high school and from a skills and action standpoint that was the most enjoyable sport I have been involved with.

From a spectator standpoint it is much more fan friendly than football (up close) or baseball which has so little action. There have been attempts to begin the sport at some of the schools represented in this thread, but track and baseball coaches have put pressure on AD's and school boards to keep volleyball out. Many of the best potential volleyball players are also involved in AAU basketball in the spring.

As baseball dies out, I look for other fan friendly sports such as volleyball to one day be supported on a large scale, but we are likely twenty years away from the end of baseball,or more.
