So now, the question becomes... what chain of events, if any, does this set off? I can't imagine the SWC will want to stay at 9, as it forces some teams to find a non-league game in later weeks (when they were at 7 from 2013-14, the West Shore was as well, and they had a scheduling agreement). Does the SWC invite Elyria or Lorain to come in as a new 10th, vote out Berea-Midpark to get to 8, or do something a little more unforeseeable? Between this and the PTC news from earlier, the conference landscape situation in NEO is getting interesting...

If I were Holy Name and Elyria Catholic, I would be prepared to get kicked out of the league. Eight is the ideal number for schools in a conference. This allows for 7 league games and three non conference games. In all other sports this allows a ho e and home set with fourteen total games. This is absolutely ideal for scheduling. Also EC and HN are both private schools that pull kids out of these areas, HN more than EC. Point is this conference is public school dominated and no longer needs them. If I were a betting man, Id say within two years both will be gone. Only issue may be Parma schools potential consolidation.

If the Parma schools consolidate then you have eight teams.

Parma has been talking consolidation for many years. It won't happen as long as the parents in Parma Hts. and Seven Hills continue to look down on residents of Parma.

Maybe they will return to the restructured North Coast League, which was their original home

Holy Name makes perfect sense for the GCL. Elyria Catholic makes sense except from a geographical standpoint. EC gets screwed having to drive to Warren and Louisville for games. The smaller schools division is already so spread out, adding EC makes it even worse IMO. Not sure if Holy Name would want to jump right back in though after only leaving 4 years ago. I guess if they got kciked out of this league then they'd have no choice.

The NCL needs to expand to get all the privates in there except ed's/iggy and go to 3 divisions, no mandatory cross games either, that is what broke it up before.

Incidentally, this league is the GLC, not the GCL. The thread title certainly piqued my interest.

At bootleggers we are always calling it the GCL. Gonna take some getting used to I guess.

Well spell it out next time. There's only one GCL.

Kidding of course, but I agree, I saw the title and was like "Woah."

Will Fairview jump at the open spot in the CVC Metro? No question a better fit with their enrollment.
