Congrats Coach Schneider and Miamisburg. I’ve been rooting for this move for some time. The Schneider’s will scrap the Wing T and go to a spread offense emphasizing RPOs and read options along with screen game. This offense will take time to install. Be patient Miamisburg fans, it will take 2-3 years to get the strength and conditioning program to where it needs to be to run this system. There will also be a culture change, a change for the good. There will be no shortcuts but when this program is up and running, in 2-3 years, it will be a regional power contending for state titles every year. Coach Schneider will be ridulously loyal to this community as it has given him a second chance. He also has deep family ties here, he will treat this job as well as anyone could. Miamisburg fans, you will love the product you will have. Just be patient and let him build it. You just hired one of the best coaches in southern Ohio.

They will lose. He can’t recruit like he did at Northmont. For bad for them kids, because they have been running the wing -t for 7 years and now spread. I have heard kids say they are not going to play because they don’t want to run the spread.

That’s a good hire for Miamisburg. Those kids will love playing for him and love running that offense.

Those are the exact kids the coaches likely want to quit.

Things must be different over there. Almost every kid I know cringes when they hear wing T. While effective, it is boring to most kids. Todayí Kids (and fans) want to sling it around the field a little bit. He actually runs the ball a lot out of that spread from what I hear. Iím sure if you can find a kid that wants to run buck sweep, you can find one that wants to run a post. Good hire. Plus, it sounds like people werenít exactly beating down the door to coach there. They should be happy with what they got.

Along with all the kids in Englewood, he could get Clayton's too.

whooaa, slow down there partner....."it will be a regional power contending for state titles every year", these type of expectations will only lead to major disappointment. It's not like they hired Bill Billicheck. It will be interesting to see if they have the athletes needed to make type of offense work.

Glad they have a coach in place finally, happy that he was finally given another shot to coach.

Although they made the playoffs at Northmont, they weren't a state contender. No one in Ohio felt threatened or thought Northmont could reach the championship except for Northmont people.

How many D1 State Contenders has the GWOC/WOL had in the last 50 years, Three?

I have NEVER heard a high school player say they would not play for a spread offense. Lance did not recruit players, it took about 3 years but the players wanted to come play for a wide open offense. Wait and see !

A lot of people overrating Lance Schneider as coach. A good, but not great coach. Never made it past the second round of the playoffs at Northmont, despite having some good talent and teams. Ironically, once Wayne moved on from the Schneiders, the football team flourished under Jay Minton.

Miamisburg will be the smallest school in the new GWOC. With the talk of a dropoff of talent from the previous years, it could be quite a while before Lance gets the team to the playoffs and even winning one.

Since Lance was never able to even get close to a State appearance at Northmont, little chance Miamisburg has that in their future.

TBD though as to how this turns out...

So if the GWOC is such a great conference, what does that tell you about the GWOC? I agree BB. I will say though Northmont lost in the state championship in 81í as a member of GMVC. Other than that the only schools that have been there in basketball and football is Trotwood who no one wants to respect because their D3 bit has more quality athletes than any school on the conference and Wayne whoís has quality athletes as well! While all the other schools have over 500 boys but canít get 12 or 60 boys to win a championship.

What championship game did Northmont lose in 1981 ? Not football or basketball.

You need to remember that when the Schneiiders were at Wayne, only four teams qualified to the playoffs, not 8. Let alone now with the super division 1, where almost 50% get in the playoffs. Plus, the Schneider’s won at Wayne with HOME GROWN talent. Every great team under Minton had several recruited implants in key roles to lead them.

Lance is a great coach!!!! So happy that Miamisburg hired him!! He deserves a chance at redemption. Now, every team that turned their back on him in their interview process, needs to be on Miamisburg’s schedule so Lance can show them what they missed out on!!!

Agree, I don’t see state championships out of Miamisburg - unless they drop to division 2 and become St. Miamisburg so they can compete with the LaSalles in D2. But I do see them competing for league titles and qualifying for playoffs. Even winning some playoff games and possibly getting to a regional final!!!! But you never know what will happen. I have confidence that Lance will deliver and have a successful, long term run at Miamisburg!!!

Lance is a good hire for Miamisburg but he will need to adjust his offensive scheme for Miamisburg. Vikings won't have the same type of athletes as Northmont.

I have NEVER heard a kid say they don't want to run the spread. That is like a HS basketball player not playing for his team because he doesn't like to fast break. Have you ever watched the bball played on playgrounds? Kids WANT to play fast--no matter what the sport.

You guys are hilarious. Love to throw shots at gwoc but are DPS fans. The gcl coed has had 1 team as of late compete for state (Alter). Dps is an absolutely horrible conference. Belmont is best team now and just went an unbelievable 5-5. Gmc has had Colerain and who else? So outside of the Mac and gcl south no other conference around is good based off some of you guys standards

What happened at Northmont that led to him being removed? Many people has referenced him making a mistake. What was it?

He sent an email to his coaches calling certain players names and putting them in categories. Dayton Daily News released some of the email. The email was only supposed to be seen by coaches. One of his coaches took the email to Admin and he was let go/fired/resigned whatever you want to call it.

Honestly there have been much worse infractions committed by high school coaches in the past. His major mistake was putting it in writing and not having a staff he could trust. He didn't call the players these names. He was frustrated with where the program was going and he felt a lot of the players were soft, lazy, and toxic.

Coach Schneider says he learned from his mistakes and he will be more positive with his players in the future.

As far as Miamisburg not having the athletes to run his offense. That will be the interesting thing to watch. I do know, Miamisburg has always had speed. They've had multiple football players make it to state in track. Miamisburg has grown and is continuing to grow. The city has become more diverse and their youth sports have been flourishing. I truly think Miamisburg and Schneider will work out. I don't see them competing for state titles unless they drop to Division 2. If they have a perfect storm of multiple consecutive classes, perhaps they could compete for a region 3 title. If they are in Region 4, that will never happen. Miamisburg needs to just focus on winning their 1st Division 1 playoff game. They won 2 Division 2 playoff games but Division 1 is a different animal. I think Miamisburg is lucky to have the Schneiders!

I have watched Lance as a high school QB, an assistant coach, and as a head coach, and he has done an excellent job at all of his endeavors. Lance is a quality individual and will bring coaching talent(and wins) to Miamisburg for years to come. Congratulation's Lance. You are an excellent young man and a great mentor for young men. Good Luck in the future. Signed Football Fan(Steve Fisher)
