For Gwiz? About a minute. Gwiz got in, Gable tried a chest wrap position, but Gwiz defended well. Gable didn't have much in the last minute

Disappointed Yianni lost. Hopefully Zain can get it done. Steveson will only get better.

Thoughts:

65kg: I don't think Zain is a player at worlds (65kg is absolutely loaded) and I think we will struggle to qualify the weight with him. I really hope Yianni wrestles U23s and takes the Olympic redshirt to get better. He had trouble today getting to his offense when there wasn't a scramble situation. He has to continue to improve that if he wants to make an Olympic team.

92kg: I actually thought J'Den would win by more- his defense is maybe the best at the world at 92kg and I couldn't see Bo scoring. Think he is right there for another medal at worlds. Also would like to see Bo wrestle at U23s.

125kg: This is Gable's spot next year. Once again, would like to see him at U23s and take an Olympic redshirt. Gwiz looked alright, but I think will need a nice draw to win a medal.

I mean it's not like Cox did much different from last year, when he did win a world championship. Guys can't score on him

Smith really had the only upset. Every other match fell as suspected.
Zain is tough. Yianni winning would have surprised me honestly.
There was no way Bo was beating Cox. Cox is just too solid.
Gwiz was always winning. At least for now.
Molinari is definitely Iowa trained.
I did give Anthony a chance, but Condor is just too experienced here.

It was a fun event. Enjoyed it. Gonna miss next Saturday.
Cheers Yank.

Freestyle needs to tighten up the scoring rules. There are two may times when it’s almost impossible to determine which wrestler should be awarded points. Yianni got hosed on the call based on when the brick was thrown, but Zain was the better wrestler last night.

Honestly yes. I believe folks forget how good Retherford is. It's not like he's the, 'old man' at the weight.
Although I have no doubt that Yianni is the next US FS stud for sure.

Had great privilege of attending yesterdays event. Great celebration of the sport and an honor to watch some of the best in the world compete. Also great to meet fellow member of this community, always better to put face to name.

My thoughts on wrestling.

I did not agree with the way the Yianni-Zain match was handled. I believe Yanni should have won and had chance at 3rd and deciding match.

Stevenson has very bright future. Future medalist, but strength difference too much at his age. That will change.

Cox probably best in world, no shame in losing to him. But I stand by my prediction of Nickal's style not translating to success in freestyle, not explosive enough offensively. Got in on hips multiple times but could not finish.

Can't wait for Nebraska next week and my two favorite American wrestlers Snyder, Burroughs.

Alhamdulillah

Cox/Bo

Reflection on this match. Bo screwed himself. He never should have wrestled Jden. Bo was either scared of DT or being too nice to DT. Cox was too big and too strong for Bo. I don't know how Bo would do internationally at 86 but that was his better weight yesterday.

Sounds like you witnessed some great matches!
Safe travels to Nebraska (if you’re going).

I don't disagree...but Bo wasn't wrestling DT. Weight was irrelevant, it just wasn't happening. They're just too close, teammates, big brother, little brother. However you want to describe it? Besides he's wrestled DT more times than I can imagine and he knows where he stands with him.
Cox on the other hand, he had never wrestled, not even practice, so that was an unknown.
I've read that Bo is gonna finish out the cycle through 2020 and then off to MMA. If that's the case, he will never wrestle DT competitively.
