I, do believe it will be very close between the top four teams...I, took the time to go thru all the results of the top teams. I tried to find common opponents and 8 also came up with a realistic top time for their top five runners. Hear you go

1. Hawken
19:08
19:13
19:35
19:40
21:00
The Hawks have the combined top four runners in the field. And their fifth is now about 30 to 35 seconds behind several of the other top teams fifth. And I am no huge fan of the Hawks. But, the truth is the truth

Chagrin Falls
18:54
19:15
19:37
20:24
20:25
The Tigers are not running as well at four, and five as they did five weeks ago.

Lexington
19:20
19:40
19:40
19:50
21:09

Lexington has two problems. Is their top two starting a little to far behind Hawken’s and Is their five any better then the Hawks five

SVSM

19:24
19:30
19:59
20:05
20:06

Already head to head against Hawken and Chagrin they have a little catching up to do.

Look at things realistically. Tipp is the same team that they were the last 2 years. I don't see them dropping to 8. Woodridge is a team that can finish top 10. They are not a team that is going to finish 17th. When does 150 win? 150 gets maybe 4th? Need to be much closer to 100 to win.

Does anyone know what happened with Beachwood's Leah Roter in the last mile? At 2 miles she had a 21 second gap on the field and a 24 second gap on Zimmer, the eventual winner.

No one knows what happened? I heard that she twisted her ankle near the end and pretty much hobbled in but had a big enough lead to still get 2nd. My source for this was a person told a person told a person and that person told me. I have no idea what the veracity of that information is.

I thought that she totally spent herself when I first saw the result. At 1 mile she had already gapped the field by 10 seconds. Her mile was 5:27. For comparison, the DI leaders came through in 5:32ish. Her 2nd mile was around 11:22 so she had already slowed considerably but I thought that she still had a 17:40 to 17:50 in her.

I did not see the finish, but this is what I am told. Right after the announcer announced, "here comes your state champion, leah roter", she began to waver back and forth, I assume from exhausting herself, which zimmer had been charging since the woods, passed her near the finish. Similar thing happened last year but see was able to hold on to first by a small margin.

Leah was still over 10+ seconds ahead (60-70 meters) with 600 to go as I was standing neer the 4400 meter sign. I said that she would break 18:00 with a good finish. I didn't know she was caught until they announced the results. I ask someone who was at the last turn what happened and they said she appeared to stumble with a couple hundred to go... maybe a twisted ankle?...
She eased in from there.

Also, on friday, when my girl was going over the course easy, Leah blew right by us and appeared to run the enire course in probably less than 20:00 in her training shoes. Now, I am thinking she may have left some of her race on the course the day before...?

Milesplit has a video of the finish. It looks like her legs shut down on her and she was a walking pace when passed with about 10 meters to go.
