Madeira seems to be underrated or Indian Hill is overrated.

There is a lot wrong with the polls, but after today there will be a much clearer picture and then after next week it won't matter all that much. Just interesting how head to head does not seem to get the consideration you would think it would.

Centerville girls finished 5th at their district meet?

Resting their top 7 runners.

Should they drop in the polls from #1? Should they drop from the Nike National poll?

Personally, I never vote on how good you are week to week because of the variables. But I vote on how your best performance would rate against other teams best performances.

But for the poll naysayers that say you should vote on week to week, what do you do?

Doesn't really seem like much of a conundrum. Treat it as if they had a bye week. They remain unchanged unless some teams below them had outstanding weeks or teams above them had terrible weeks.

People try to make too much out of the polls. They are inaccurate snapshots at best. The inaccuracies can be annoying to some, but it is those unintended inaccuracies that generate the discussion that can provide real insight to what is happening in the sport. For me, thats enough of a reason to do them.

Trying to project what's going to happen in November from what happens in low key invitationals in late August is like trying to predict the weather in November based on what happens in August - there is probably some correlation, but it's so weak as to be of little use.
