Wilmington D-2 District Rankings (Off-Season #3)

I love doing these rankings, but as it has been pointed out before, they are just for fun. To any wrestlers who read these and feel that they are ranked too low, you may be right.
I am bound to be wrong on many of the rankings, but fortunately they have absolutely no impact on how anyone will finish at any tournament this season or any other year.

I started moving wrestlers up and down from their previous yearís weights. The new weights are partially based off of where theyíve been wrestling in the off season, though a lot of it is pure guesswork at this time.
Please let me know if anyone has inside information about new weights, schools, or wrestlers that they think should be added.

Iíve tried shifting the wrestlers around from schools that changed divisions. Please let me know if any are wrong, or if Iím forgetting any schools/wrestlers.

* = unsure about participation

-The schools of the incoming freshmen are based off of the previous Yappi thread. Please let me know if any are wrong or have changed.

106-
1. Tanner Jordan- Graham (3rd state)
2. Chase Huff- Goshen (6th district)
3. Sean Conway- Carroll
4. Kaleb Ream- (Springfield) Shawnee
5. Chanston Moll- Westfall (6th district)
6. Jayden Sturgell- Benjamin Logan*
7. Lucas Chess- Urbana
8. Drew Grey- Kenton Ridge

Conway beat state qualifier Joey Dima 6-3 in the semifinals at Eaton last year before besting Ream 10-5 in the title bout.
Ream won the rematch in the sectional finals, but Conway claimed the rubber match at the district tournament.

113-
1. Alek Martin- Graham (1st middle school state)
2. Trey Finnerty- Circleville (8th state)
3. Joey Dima- Valley View (SQ)
4. Tyler Woods- Franklin (5th middle school state)
5. Josh Dunn- Goshen
6. Cameron Smart- Wilmington
7. Pippy Johnson- Norwood
8. Storm Duffy- Miami Trace

Dunn had some impressive wins at LaSalle last year while backing up nationally ranked Lukas Byrd. He pinned Kentucky state placer Miguel Ocasio to claim a title at Edgewood, and he later bested state alternate Kyle Rowan 7-5 while placing at Wadsworth.
Iím sure who will end up at 106 and who will be 113 between Dunn and Huff, but both will contend for state qualification this season.

120-
1. Nate Keaton- Circleville (1st, 5th, 4th state)
2. Nick Moore- Graham (1st middle school state)
3. Jacob Gentry- Ross (7th, 7th state)
4. Bryce Davis- Kenton Ridge (SQ)
5. Matt Asher- Clinton-Massie (8th state 2016)
6. Jordan Hoselton- Zane Trace (SQ 2016)
7. A.J. Lewandowski- Oakwood
8. Jasper Johnson- Norwood

Flo Wrestling has Ohio State recruit Keaton ranked 16th in the country to start the year.

Davis beat returning state placer Asher 3-0 in the consolation rounds at the district tournament last year, and he also pinned Dawson Show in his go-to-state bout to punch a ticket to Columbus.

126-
1. Jordan Crace- Graham (1st, 3rd state)
2. Caleb Brooks- Circleville (3rd, 8th, 5th state)
3. Isaiah Wortham- Chaminade-Julienne (SQ)
4. Wade Monebrake- Eaton (5th district, SQ 2016)
5. Sam Price- Monroe (5th district, 6th district 2016)
6. Ayyoub Muhammed- Thurgood Marshall
7. Levi Clay- Washington (C.H.)
8. Elijah Waters- Batavia

Crace starts the year ranked #8 in the country by Flo Wrestling (@120) just ahead of 3x state champ Tommy Hoskins.
He bumped up and defeated Ironman champ Zack Donathan 8-6 in sudden victory over the summer at the Grand River Rumble.

132-
1. Ben Sherrill- Bellbrook (SQ)
2. James Davis- W. Carrollton (5th district)
3. Isaac Bennett- Logan Elm (SQ)
4. Casey Ragle- Norwood (5th district, SQ 2016)
5. Andrew Shafer/Isaiah Stickley- Graham
6. Jacob Lees- (Springfield) Northwestern
7. Thomas McGraw- Chaminade-Julienne
8. Gavyn Grim- Urbana

Davis will add depth to this district with West Carrollton moving from D-1 to D-2 this season. He posted some impressive wins last year, beating state placer Gunner Carpenter and state qualifier Jihad Salti at Olentangy Liberty.
He also beat toughed out a 4-2 sudden victory win over Nino Salamone in the consolation quarterfinals of the district tournament to lock up placement.

138-
1. Mitch Moore- Graham (1st, 1st, 1st state)
2. Coby Hughes- Miami Trace (6th state)
3. Cole Houser- Benjamin Logan (6th district, SQ 2016)
4. Brayden Ploehs- Ross (SQ 2016)
5. Dawson Carter- Hillsboro (SQ 2016)
6. Tyler Matthews- Circleville
7. Logan Raney- Franklin (6th district)
8. Trevor Lewis- Unioto

Moore enters the year ranked 3rd in the country by Flo Wrestling. He has a showdown with top ranked Jacori Teemer slated for Whoís #1.

145-
1. J.D. Stickley- Graham (1st state)
2. Zach Dunn- Goshen
3. Micah Marshall- Chaminade-Julienne (SQ)
4. Caleb Blake- Tippecanoe (SQ)
5. Wes Davenport- Unioto (5th district)
6. Gavin Moore- Miami Trace
7. Ryan Wolf- New Richmond (SQ)
8. Robbie Frederick- Clinton-Massie

Stickley is currently ranked 16th in the country by Flo Wrestling, though he is registered for Super 32 at 138, so weíll have to keep an eye on where he wrestles at the beginning of the year.

152-
1. Joey Sanchez(4th, 5th state)/Jeffrey Thomas(3rd, 2nd state)- Graham
2. Zane Nelson- Washington C.H. (5th district, 5th district 2016)
3. Jonas Proffitt- Westfall (SQ)
4. Keegan Rawlins- McClain
5. Yima Nyamor- Wyoming
6. Gavin Clark- New Richmond
7. Damion Williams- Urbana (6th district)
8. Nicholas Machuca- Chaminade-Julienne

I believe both Sanchez and Thomas will be wrestling at Super 32, so we should get an early look both competitors.
Sanchez beat state placers Alex Neuberger, Trenten Scott (2x), Alex Kowal (2x), and Adam Shaw last year.
Thomas defeated state placers Jayden Hefner, Jarrett Bischoff, Danny Assaf, David Massey, and Matthew Taylor over the course of the season.

160-
1. Ryan Thomas- Graham (1st, 3rd, 3rd state)
2. Chris Conger- Washington C.H. (6th district)
3. David Frederick- Chaminade-Julienne (3rd middle school state)
4. Caleb Linton- Logan Elm
5. Dominic Finch- (Springfield) Shawnee
6. Andrew Reisinger- (Springfield) Northwestern
7. Austin Hamblin- Ross
8. Sam Bohannon- Monroe

Thomas is currently ranked 18th in the country by Flo Wrestling. His potential match-up with 2x state champ Kavon Freeman will be one of the most anticipated of the state tournament this year.

170-
1. Rocky Jordan- Graham (1st, 1st, 2nd state)
2. Isaac Allen- Wilmington (5th district, 5th district 2016)
3. Ross Lennon- Clinton-Massie (6th district)
4. Hunter Johns- Chaminade-Julienne
5. Seth Hodapp- Eaton (6th district)
6. Blake Coy- Carroll
7. Gage Johnson- Franklin
8. Jack Fessler- Bishop Fenwick*

Jordan starts the year ranked 12th in the country by Flo Wrestling. Heíll have an immediate opportunity to improve upon that ranking at Ironman where he could potentially square off against #3 Julian Ramirez, #4 Erich Byelick, #6 A. J. Ferrari, #8 Emil Soehnlen, or #11 Nate Jimenez

182-
1. Brett Posey- Zane Trace (8th state)
2. Hunter Hyden- Graham (5th district)
3. Sean Netherton- Westfall (SQ)
4. Daniel Greiner- Batavia (SQ)
5. Spencer Reynolds- Eaton
6. Jamonte Crossty- Mt. Healthy
7. John Mark Williams- Indian Hill
8. Jack Anders- Miami Trace

I moved Zane Trace and Westfall to this district for the time being due to location and symmetry of the districts, though they could well end up at Heath. Iím guessing that there will be a reshuffling of the sectionals at some point, but I donít know when that will occur.
Both Zane Trace and Westfall have a returning state qualifier around this weight with district champ Posey and Netherton both wrestling 170 last season.

195-
1. Stone Day- Valley View (2nd, 7th state)
2. Gage Braun- Graham (2nd, 5th state)
3. Jackson Gear- McNicholas (SQ)
4. Austin Carroll- Zane Trace (SQ)
5. Ryan Buckley- New Richmond (5th district)
6. Ethan Taylor- McClain
7. Hunter Lester- Franklin
8. Deegan Boris- Hillsboro

Braun is ranked 17th in the country by Flo Wrestling to start the year. He and Day could well go back and forth all season just like Day and Kavan Sarver did last year when they squared off 5 times.

220-
1. Johnny Shafer- Graham (7th, 5th state)
2. Mikey Addis- Norwood (SQ)
3. Sam Brothers- Clinton- Massie (SQ)
4. Ben Davis- Circleville
5. Drake Miller- Oakwood
6. Nathaniel Clayton- Alter
7. Jared Conn- Hillsboro
8. Jamen Hill- Carroll

Shafer had a rough state tournament last year, but I still consider him the favorite at this weight heading into the season. Among his slew of quality wins last year was a pair of victories over eventual state champ Landon Hall.

285-
1. Lane Cluff- Hillsboro (SQ)
2. Alex White- Westfall
3. Trent Wilson- Valley View (SQ)
4. Collin Wolffe- Miami Trace (5th district)
5. Conner Barton- Wilmington (6th district)
6. Robert Honeycutt/Benito Guerrero- Circleville
7. Elijah Cochran- Chaminade-Julienne
8. Sam Homan- Alter

White pinned state qualifier Scott Harry to earn a title at Athens last year. He also defeated district placer Kade Clark 4-2 in the consolation finals at Barnesville earlier in the season.

Teams:
1. Graham
2. Circleville
3. Chaminade-Julienne
4. Westfall
5. Valley View
6. Miami Trace
7. Hillsboro
8. Goshen

Graham has a number of wrestlers registered to compete at Super 32. Their individual weight-classes raise questions about who will ultimately wrestle at which weight. Both Mitch Moore and J.D. Stickley are registered at 138, so Iím wondering if one will ultimately drop to 132. Furthering this theory is the fact that Jeffrey Thomas is registered at 145 while Sanchez is registered at 152.
It may just be that those are the natural weights for the wrestlers, but it would certainly help the team if someone could make 132. This would prevent a state placer from being bumped out of the line-up.

Westfall will add strength to this district if they are indeed competing here. Moll was a district placer last season, Proffitt and Netherton made it to the state tournament, and White is definitely capable of qualifying for state this year.

Iíll be interested to see how Goshen does with the addition of the Dunns. Either could qualify for the state tournament, and they already have district placer Huff returning to the team and Kube is a wrestler who will be competing for a spot on the district podium.

A special thanks to Boro Fan for all the insight into the weights of the wrestlers, Baumís Page and Jakeís Wrestling for all of the results that they provide, and to any of the other wrestling nerds that actually read these things.

Heard rumors Gage Braun either broke his leg or had a severe knee injury in football. If true, that's a blow.
