Sears Chairman Eddie Lampert to work on a higher bid to keep Sears alive

Quote:
Sears Chairman Eddie Lampert is working on a higher bid to keep Sears alive, a person familiar with the situation told CNBC.

The bid, though, is not yet finalized and submitted, the person said. When it is, Lampert will be required to publicly file it with federal regulators.

Bloomberg first reported Wednesday afternoon on Lampertís latest efforts to keep Sears alive.

Sears, which also owns Kmart stores, filed for bankruptcy on Oct. 15. If Lampert is unable to cobble together an offer to buy the company out of bankruptcy, it will be pushed into liquidation.

Not happening.

Lampert cannot secure credit from vendors so it is a moot point. This is a political act so when he tries to purchase another retailer he can say he tried to save Sears/K Mart but the failure was beyond his control.

There are still J C Penney stores? I thought they already went under.

A friend of mine said a story on Sears was on the TV news yesterday. His 9 year-old son said "What's a Sears?". No wonder the younger generations don't understand us, uh, more mature folk.

Lol. That reminded me ... few years back, my kid was wearing a band T-shirt at school, and a girl looked at it and said, "What's a Nirvana?"
