This regional could appear wide open, however I feel like your state representative could come from the East district for the first time in Athens. Strasburg, Hannibal River, Hiland, and Malvern are all forces with each one having one major strength over the other. However, I'm very anxious to see who makes it out of the Athens side, as they have to play for the regional title opportunity. Howie Caldwell sure can coach but Coal Grove returns an entire team. The dream matchup for the fans would surely be Randy Hixson and Lukas Isaly. The best players in the regional would not disappoint, especially with a state birth on the line.

Southeast District is very lucky this year the way that the cards played out. SE District is guaranteed a regional finalist this year.

If it was SE 1 or 2 v Central and SE 1 or 2 v East in the regional semi-finals, SE district likely wouldn't be represented. Next best team in the regional(s) stage, after the East District representative, is definitely going to be the winner of the Central District.

I am not familiar with the Central district and their teams. If I was putting money on this regional i would take the winner of the River/Hiland game to get to Columbus. They usually player a tougher schedule than the SE and Central teams.

With no africentric or harvest prep those central teams have to be drooling from the mouth.

SE teams have Peebles who has been decent the last couple years, Dawson has been III the last couple years if my memory serves me right. South Webster has made runs in the past but as the #7 they must be down this year.

Just curious.....I saw a tweet yesterday that said "River has sold 470 tickets for tonight's game". Wow, that wasn't meant to be a boast was it? 470 tickets for a District final? Heck, NW Ohio D4 teams fill 2200-3000 seat gyms for Distrit finals....470 wouldn't be a good ticket sales number for a lot of regular season girls games. What kind of crowd did Hiland - River end up with?

I think the gym was just about sold out (I wasn’t there, but the pictures I saw it looked full). Cambridge doesn’t exactly have a huge seating capacity though. I think I saw that River was given 600 presale tix and they ended up selling over 500 of those. River definitely had a lot more fans than Hiland from what I heard. Hiland hasn’t drawn well at all this year. Seems like over the last handful of years attendance has gone down significantly.

Looks like Hiland will play Fairfield Christian in the first Semi Tuesday. Thoughts?

I also believe that games sell out up there because everyone around wants to see a basketball game. The community and the surrounding communities want to be there, if they are playing or not. Down here, you may have 40 people that aren't from the respective schools playing... just unfortunate its not the same down here and people don't care as much.

And said before, it was more about the presale tickets. they sold 520 I believe of their 600. Granted, that would sell in NW Ohio. But different populations and different desires.
