You clearly can't read or were not on Elder's page. Either way there is some great discussion on Elder's culture, what can be done to make Elder a better place. Sure there is a troll Superwhatever who is spouting crap, however outside of him I have not seen a single supposedly Elder person even downplay this incident.

Please note, any Elder posters response to Peterson is not meant to downplay the issues at Elder. They are very serious and need to be addressed, however many of us have a hard time being hammered on by a former LaSalle administrator who is acting like its Christmas morning and he is a child.

If you know the GCL

This is St X. being St X. Someone didnít like cheer so they called the media
And now we have an issue.
I know that St X student section has cheers that other people do not like.
So St X continue to be St X.

That is an incredibly accurate description of Peterson's antics. He's a joke.

Complete embarrassment of the entire GCL. Leave it to Elder to be the scumbags of the GCL. Elder of all schools should not be doing this. I know they are better then this and they need to act like it and not be such an embarrassment to the entire conference

i just love the people who come on here and say "this happens all the time. it happens at every GCL game. it goes on at all HS basketball games."

guess what? it DOESN'T. and for some of you on here to make the statement that because this happens everywhere, that it's not a big deal or trying to make light of it by saying it that "this is how the GCL is"............you're all part of the problem.

if you're an Elder parent or admistrator who didn't step in once you heard the first chant, you're complicit. it's that simple.

do i think this only happens at Elder? no.

does it make any more or less wrong because it's happened elsewhere? no.

we ALL need to do better.

not just Elder.

Even if it had not made it to the media- they had an issue. Stop being upset that it is being reported - start being upset that it has happened

The only thing that I am upset about is losing my rights
Someone want another person to stop doing something that is legal
Or as a great man once said
Nothing so needs reforming as other people's habits

What "rights" have you lost? Were you one of those who chanted? Did you lose your" right" to set back the school's reputation nationally? Or, if you were not involved, then you have lost nothing.

The right thing would have been to forfeit the game and make a REAL statement to their students and the parents that THIS behavior is wholly unacceptable. The right thing would have been for the highest ranking school official at the game to get on the microphone and announce to the crowd that the game was forfeit because of the inexcusable and unacceptable behavior of the students. Sadly, the right thing wasn't done and hasn't been done in regards to this behavior in a very, very long time.

Well, they got the "W"...I guess that's all that matters.

Hand out punishments that show it won't be tolerated any longer? Way back in 2005, St. Xavier students repeatedly made gorilla gestures in the state championship game against the black Canton McKinley team. Guess what, they've done in several times since when playing predominantly black teams.

Apparently, the St. Xavier parents and administration are fine with their kids dishing it out, but can't handle it when it comes their way.
You are absolutely right Just a Fan. I was there. And after the game was over and we had to walk a distance back to our car, a group of St. X kids who were wearing lettered football jackets saw us in our red and black and called us the n word. Cincinnati privates need to get their act together. When you wear Jesus on your sleeve, you should carry him in your heart.

You know that a thread has " jumped the shark" when it deteriorates into back and forth insults, with no mention of the original topic. It might be time to summon Fonzie.

Back and forth insults on the internet.........

And we wonder why it spills over into venues such as HS Basketball games.

This could go on forever. Every school has their idiots who don't represent the community. They are also teenagers, teenagers making bad decisions........not exactly new news there.
The GCL has great spirited games and they do at times cross the line. It appears they are handling the situation that occurred. I was insulted as an athlete years ago and I somehow found a way to get past it. Let's not turn into snowflakes here. Also, the nazi reference, please educate yourself about history, the socialist nazi party, genocide, and I know that is something many people want to say about the current occupant of the oval office but it isn't true.

Statements like this need to stop. Stop normalizing this type of behavior and sweeping it under the rug because they are "teenagers." These teenagers are young men who need guidance to grow into responsible adults...Is this how you want them to grow? You want to say nothing and chalk it up as "no big deal?" Unacceptable by Elder, the administration, parents and all involved. Take responsibility and make things right, make them better, and make your students better young men.

Quick quiz. How many other grade levels of football are there in high school other than the varsity team...that wouldn't have been playing that night?

St X dresses how many again? When I was in school, during that time, they dressed everyone.

Look I am not defending St X but merely calling out a poster with an extremely fishy story with certain ulterior motives.

I am sure there have been ample instances of poor behavior from st X students, however this is made up

But not at state games. The OHSAA puts a limit on how many dressed football players are allowed on the sideline. As for the story, just a fan originally brought it up and I've met her several times through the years at Yappi gatherings and I've never known her to exaggerate or lie.

Let's face it, Elder was wrong on this but it's not like they are the only one's in the GCL that have been doing stupid stuff like this over the years. The whole league needs to address this and put a stop to it.

As for this particular incident I understand Elder students were going to drive over to X yesterday or today and apologize. Does anyone know if this was done and how it went?

You missed the point, it has been publicly stated the Elder leaders are handling it as they should. Hold the guilty parties accountable and try to prevent from occurring again. However, let's not indict an entire community for sophomoric behavior of sophomores. It is an opportunity to teach them and hopefully they are doing that. FYI-Teenagers across the nation will make some questionable decisions tonight, as will adults.
