McKinley didn't play well tonight, but credit to Jackson as they came ready to play and jumped out to an early 11 point lead. Mikesell (spelling) had a terrific game. McKinley had too many turnovers and they let Jackson have too many second opportunities off of offensive rebounds. And, of course, they couldn't stop Mikesell.

Given that GlenOak beat Jackson by 21 previously, I'd say McKinley is facing a significant challenge on Saturday. Definitely don't want to drop two in a row to a Fed team at home.

I think the Lady Pups will show up focused and ready to play....looking forward to seeing the game.

I think Mikesell had her mind made up she was going to get a win against McK in her Senior year lol..GlenOak game should be a good one.

Gilmour 77
Jackson 42

Gilmour
Naz Hillmon 23 controlled the interior and led th3 fast break and press
Gurley 25

Jackson
Mikesell 20 ?? (What range on her shot)

Jackson had trouble getting into a tempo. Mikesell had to work hard to get her shot off against Gilmour’s pesky guards. The bears doubled Hilmon and played the other guards close. The third guard ate them up with 6 three’s. Their zone should have been extended out a little more...or better yet play them man to man.

McKinley beat GlenOak 68-47 tonight.

With a lot of basketball to be played, there are no teams with an undefeated record in the Federal League.

Starting PG quit, ostensibly due to soccer scholarship.

D1 big hurt, possibly for the year.

Alexis Green... veteran-starter...hurt.

Probably the first guard off the bench also out.

If Hoover had all the pieces it would be far from a down year.

Hoover indeed has the misfortune of several players being out with injuries.

McKinley came back from an 10-18 deficit at the end of the 1st quarter to beat Hoover 72-49.

In other Fed games, Green beat Jackson 50-46 and Lake got their first conference win 43-42 over Perry. The most recent score that I've seen for GlenOak was a 58-35 loss to Cincinnati Mt. Notre Dame and a 40-34 win over Centerville.

McKinley: 10-1, 4-1
GlenOak: 8-2, 4-1
Green: 9-2, 3-2
Jackson: 8-3, 3-2
Hoover: 5-7, 2-3
Lake: 3-7, 1-4
Perry: 2-8, 0-4

36 points and 13 rebounds. It was her 5th double double on the season (don't know if that includes her triple double) and she moved into ninth place on Stark County’s all-time scoring list with 1,638 points.

Kierstan Bell scores 37 and moves up to #8 on the Stark County all-time scoring list as the Lady Pups beat Lake 59-27. McKinley trailed 5-8 after the first quarter. Seems the pups struggle in 1st quarter play...something for them to work on as it will be important down the stretch.

In other Fed games, Jackson came from behind to beat Hoover 58-53 in overtime, and GlenOak beat Perry 51-35. Mikesell scored the final 33 points for Jackson.

Standings:

McKinley: 11-1, 5-1
GlenOak: 9-2, 5-1 (per the Repository)
Jackson: 9-3, 4-2
Green: 9-2, 3-2
Hoover: 5-8, 2-4
Lake: 3-8, 1-5
Perry: 2-9, 0-5

Games this coming week/holiday weekend (that I'm aware of):

McKinley @ GlenOak (1/10, 7:30)
Green @ Hoover (1/10, 7:30)
Perry @ Stow (1/10)
Jackson ?
Lake ?

Perry @ McKinley (1/13)
Medina @ Jackson (1/13)
Lake @ Green (1/13)
McKinley @ SVSM (1/14)
Hoover vs. Wadsworth (1/14...Classic in the Country)
Hoover vs. Pickerington Central (1/15...Classic in the Country)
GlenOak @ Toledo Rogers (1/15)

I was extremely impressed with Taylor Mikesell yesterday. That was an amazing performance. She did it all on offense. I didn't realize she had 33 straight points. Hoover didn't have an answer. They tried putting different girls on her. I thought Hoover might try some zone, but I don't remember them playing any zone, but I could be wrong. It will be hard to pick the Federal League player of the year. Mikesell or Bell. Glad I don't have to pick. Good luck everyone. Great Game.

McKinley beat GlenOak 57-56 for the second time in a much closer game. No one wanted the ball...sooooo many turnovers.

It was indeed a sloppy game.

In other mid-week Fed games, Jackson beat Lake 56-45 and Hoover beat Green 42-38. I don't think Perry played.

Friday's game were cancelled due to the weather. GlenOak lost to Regis (CO) 46-43 on Saturday. Green was scheduled to play Lake and Jackson was scheduled to play Medina but I didn't see any scores.

Today (14th) McKinley plays @ SVSM, and in the Classic in the Country, Hoover plays Wadsworth and GlenOak plays Lakota West (AP #2). Tomorrow, Hoover plays Pickerington North in the Classic in the Country. Not sure about the other teams.

Standings:
McKinley: 12-1, 6-1
Jackson: 10-3, 5-2
GlenOak: 9-4, 5-2
Green: 9-3, 3-3
Hoover: 6-8, 3-4
Lake: 3-9, 1-6
Perry: 2-9, 0-5

Any corrections/updates?

McKinley beat SVSM 75-42 tonight. Bell had 43 for the Lady Pups. Lakota West (#2) beat GlenOak 49-26. Hoover lost 47-50 to Wadsworth.

Outside the Fed, but of interest, Solon (#7) beat Mt. Notre Dame (#3) 47-44 yesterday and then Mason (unranked) beat Solon 52-40 today. Mt. Notre Dame also responded with a 56-45 win over Reynoldsburg today.

No, they play again on the 24th.

McKinley's next three games are away against Green, Jackson, and Hoover. Three big away games! Their final Fed game is at home against Lake. They also have a makeup game against Perry.

In addition to McKinley, Jackson still plays Perry, Green, and Hoover. I think they have a makeup game @ Lake.

Looking ahead a bit to the tournament....

The NE District Athletic Board website has the Fed teams in the Canton District except McKinley, which is in the Medina District because they can't play on their home court. That all makes sense.

But, the NE District website has the winner of both the Medina and Canton Districts playing in the Canton Regional (Euclic vs. Valley Forge and Perry vs. Canton). The OHSAA website, on the other hand, has the Medina District winner going to the Norwalk Regional (Genoa vs. Elyria Catholic and Millbury vs. Medina). That doesn't make sense.

Am I missing something? If not, does anyone know which is accurate?

I vote for the OHSAA Brackets.
