Hubbard Eagles 18

Let's get it started. Everyone officially good to go and cleared for 2018 action. Team seems to be loaded with talent, skill, and size. Will it translate or are looks deceiving?

Transfer rule doesn't affect being that the few who actually did transfer did so previously and have sat out. Don't think they were expecting any new additions this year save for a few in the lower levels who wouldn't contribute right away. From what I hear it'll be a two headed monster with Daniels under center and Morales behind him. Grading period was turned in and all are eligible for the upcoming season. I would expect to see a committee spelling Morales throughout the season consisting of Donlow, Odem, Mosora, and Tarver. The freshman QB from last year could be used as a change of pace down field passer throughout the season. The eagles will live and die on the ground. The line has size and i've heard the slobs have put in the work this off season to take it to the next level. That will be the true wildcard. Season can't come soon enough. Still have a bad taste from last season.

Yeah I mean they will be very good as long as the line is decent. They were ok last season. Still need a passing game!!

Eh you're generous saying they were ok last season. It felt like a 10 week scrimmage. All you had was a inexperienced line minus Meyer, Daniels on offense, and Mosora on defense. I do think it'll be dividends to depth this season. A lot of kids were thrown into the fire.

Morales should be playing for a scholarship this season. If he isn't the best back in the conference he didn't work hard enough in the off season.

There's going to be a lot of experience on both lines this year, like you have stated, a lot of those kids were thrown into the fire last year so it should help out tremendously this coming season.

I'm glad they picked the flat/matt for their new white helmets this year, it's going to look sweet.

Have seen the new jerseys & pants along with the helmets. Unreal. Haven't always been a big fan of uniform changes but they did it right. Very fly. Liking the white helmets as well.

If I could I would bmcphers7, but unfortunately I'm not privy to those pictures.

The helmets are flat white with a royal blue face guard. They replaced the eagle wings with the eagle head which is very similar to the eagle head on the 50 yard line at Beautiful Hubbard Memorial Stadium , if you have ever been there you would know the description I'm talking about (screaming eagle head). Hope that helps.

Maybe sportster can describe the uniforms since he actually seen them.

I'll give you guys this.... perhaps the best stadium around, especially the turf itself. It's immaculate. Not much better in this area.

Suprised they didn't screw it up but the stadium is definitely something the community should all be proud of as a venue for multiple sports and band.
@Spread Christian always had the white facemask on the white helmets. I liken the new scheme to a modern St Xavier/Airforce look.

Good observation, thank you for the kind words.

1. I was told while they were installing Hubbard's turf that the Pittsburgh Steelers practice facility has the same exact turf.

2. This same person said that underneath the turf is over 200 drain tubes. He said that you can have an hour long torrential downpour right before the game and that there wouldn't be a game delay because of the great drainage off the field.

Between the turf and the masonry block band shelter it was done right with top quality material and top quality construction.

That’s good, the drainage used to be crazy before the turf, it was like playing on a hill

That hasn't been a problem for the last 4 years.

The field is completely flat so that the water could drain straight down into the drain tubes and away from the turf.

I remember a few years back when Hubbard hosted Liberty in the playoffs and the grass field was a mud hole mess. If u guys remember correctly Jeff Whittaker was the Head football coach for the Leopards and he wanted Hubbard to have the game somewhere else that wasn't such a mess lol. Hubbard pretty much told him to go pound salt. I remember them putting all kinds of drying agents on the field and they even had a helicopter hovering just above the surface of the field to dry it out and none of it did a damn bit of good.....Hubbard ended up beating Liberty pretty bad in that game also

I remember that game eagle, isn’t that the year liberty was loaded and lost to Hubbard twice? And Hub obviously that’s why I said before the turf, the field probably wouldn’t have gotten as badly torn up if they didn’t have all the Pee wee teams playing on it.

1:30 p.m. Thursday, 11/2/2006

11 a.m. Friday 11/3/2006

This was gameday, Saturday morning, 11/4/2006

Game was played on Saturday, 11/4/2006, Hubbard 17, Liberty 7.
They had played two weeks before that with Hubbard winning 35-0.
Hubbard lost the next week at Chardon on Saturday, 11/11/2006 to Mentor Lake Catholic, 31-12, in one of the coldest games I've ever been to.

^ Who could forget the phantom fumble call when 24 was 3 yards into the end zone for the go ahead score in the 4th quarter. Changed the entire game.

Are you sure it was the end zone?

I believe that Wells fumble was at Liberty's 40 and recovered by Hubbard at the 39 by Lopuchovsky.

"HUBBARD — With the Hubbard High football team nursing a three-point lead early in the fourth quarter Saturday, Matt Lopuchovsky's fumble recovery became the play the Eagles needed to put Liberty away in their Div. III Region 9 opener.
What followed was that insurance when Joel Younkins capped a 39-yard drive with 6:13 remaining to pull out a 17-7 victory between the Trumbull Athletic Conference powers.
"He just dropped it and I just fell on it because I was in the perfect place," said Lopuchovsky, a 6-1, 210 junior defensive end. The fumble by Jonathan Wells appeared as though it never touched the ground, but it didn't matter to Lopuchovsky. "I just grabbed it and laid on it and secured it as best I could," he said of his recovery at Liberty's 39. "

I was on it several times this spring and I can concur that it drains very well. We had about 4 inches of snow melt off it through the morning and were on it in the afternoon with no problems.

Also, it's not spongy or bouncy like a lot of other fields I've been on.

Thoughts with the season almost here? Heard the kicker was at a buckeye camp in Columbus last month consistently hitting from 40+. I know they have a scrimmage vs Western Reserve coming up. From what I've seen and heard. This should be a huge year. Team has tons of potential.
