Can someone make the connection for me, why a non-profit medical organization is making donations for private school (or any school) athletic facilities?

Just in general, I think we're way too generous with "non-profit" designations.

I believe current Irish HC Greg Dempsey's brother is an executive with Mercy.

I know in the past the Diocese of Toledo was overly concerned about one Catholic HS getting an advantage over another.

I could not agree more with your last statement. Especially when insurance is as costly as it is, having health care providers donate millions for a private entity facility is a head scratcher.

My initial guess is Mercy is a not-for-profit. That's similar but different than a non-profit. Either way, I do not think there are regulations on their charitable contributions, especially when they consider it marketing.

I'd like some of that charitable donation.

Yes, that is true. Last November Fremont voters approved a tax issue to replace the high school and four elementary schools. I'm old enough to remember when the current Ross High was nearly new and the area around it was empty. That area has pretty much been all taken. The new middle school next to Ross is just a few years old. Proud of my hometown for their support of their schools.

Physical exercise makes one healthier. Seems pretty obvious.

Things are certainly looking up. I know this is a Football Forum, but I'm really stoked about Cahill's hire for the Hardwood.

Ross's new field looks sharp over there.Cahills hire is a big one!The lehmann kid has a very strong arm and I'm sure he'll go somewhere.I get wind from NW ohio kids who are pretty good .He has a number of BT schools are interested .Fremont has the Frye kid at center, he's projected to play guard and longsnapper in college, a senior 6-2 or 6-3 near 270 he can move. He's one of top longsnappers in country ranked 16 nationally 4 star.He can spin ball on snaps into shoot. All kinds of schools, no hurry in recruiting. He's smart too.

Fremont's has nice youngsters too watch !.Not counting wr/safety and punter. He was all state punter last 2 years.

Good luck trac this year! This conference has amazing players.Question about whitmer, if they make playoffs can they get by the olentangy schools. They both have whitmer fits?.

Good luck this year everybody !

Whitmer is 1 and 1 vs. Olentangy and 0 and 2 vs. Liberty. In both Liberty losses Whitmer was the lessor team. This next year might be different as Whitmer returns a bunch.

Lorain returns a ton of talent. They will be a factor in Whitmer’s region for at least the next couple of years, as most of their playmakers from last year were sophomores.

Yeah and you can bet St Ed's is recruiting sending academic flyers to them as energetically as Airport High does to well, everyone with an already developed athletic skill.

Olentangy gets spread out a bit by the new school next year, no?

Correct Jr stay in current school but So and Fr would switch schools if new district lines say they have to.

Yeah but they lose the older Dower, Cross, the QB, their entire O and D lines including the unblockable Wyatt.

True, but Dave McFarland is an excellent coach. Always has been a favorite of mine in our neck of the woods. Has always been great at the rebuild of bad programs, but now he seems settled in and building one that can last in Lorain. He has the numbers up in the system and he and his staff will have all the holes plugged by playoff time. I've heard they believe 2019 is the year they feel they can win it all in D1, but I have no doubt they will be ready for the 2018 playoffs.

As for the TRAC, it seems Lima is back in R6. What do they look like this season?

while I would love for whitmer to win a state title I am a lets wait and see. I have watched great teams from them get all the way to the championship game only to fall short. mind you, I don't believe there is any shame in losing a state final game but to declare in june its a state championship or bust is a great deal premature. to get there they have to win the weakest region, then beat the region 1 winner, then beat the team from Cincinnati. that is a tough task in any year. they have to do that with very little preparation from their regular season schedule.

in case anyone doesn't understand---go panthers---'88

That Moeller line was monster, and talented, and well coached. Whitmer did good hanging in as far as they were able.

Spartan, I see Flowers announced he was transferring from Pitt in May. He land anywhere yet?

I hope he did not loan money to the sheriff?

Off season trivia: Three baseball HOFers are buried in NWOhio. Name them.

Bonus: Only ONE MLB HOFer was born, raised, and died in Toledo, OH. Name him.

Very nice! How does the team look for 2018? An R6 playoff threat?
