Drove through Hildale UT and Colorado City AZ today, home of the FLDS church. Holy f what a sh-thole that place is. Every house besides the Warren Jeffs residence is literally falling apart and there are probably twenty unfinished houses that have weeds growing in them. Many houses do not have siding and are simply bare particle board with no paint. Got the evil eye from a bunch of people and decided to get the hell out of there before the Mormon cops came to take a look at us. If you're ever driving from Zion to the Grand Canyon stop in and take a look, I've really never seem anything else like it; t's much worse than any Indian reservation I've been through. Utah is a strange state

I canít lie the final line in this Series almost makes me cry every time. These guys fought in some of the biggest battles of WW2 and helped save the Western World from tyranny.

Great post and clip on this weekend. These men remind me of my dad; they are so much like him. On this holiday, I always try to do at least one thing to recognize the men and women who have sacrificed so much for all of us. This gets it started. Good job!

I have a few hours in Vegas tomorrow before flying home at 4pm. Driving from Kingman to Hoover Dam then looking to F around on the strip for 2-3 hours before going to the airport, what would some of you recommend. Not especially into gambling

Yeah, that was years ago. Standing at attention to honor them isn't as important as being sure that cops get severely punished when they screw up.

Cabe's all about honoring veterans, which is why he once tried to marginalize a yappi member's service to our country.

I know ronnie put it all on the line. He's a very brave young man. Thanks for your service, runt. I apologize.

Thank God Turden isn't calling the shots, or your service would never have paid for your education.

The G.I. Bill stands claimed as a foremost example of intelligent (= no brainer) legislation. It supposedly returned $6 in future taxes for each dollar spent from taxes.

However, I can't find that math anymore since seeing it declared more than three decades ago, a time during which I've learned not to give credence to claims of so-called "Keynesian multipliers," the concept that government spending has a positive effect on the national economy.

Without seeing that case made afresh to see if it is credible (and I have my doubts), I'd say that the government had plenty of authority to proceed with three of its Enumerated powers having to do with raising and supporting armies and navies (major blunder to leave out air forces!) In general, investment in education is essential, but the libertarian point of view is that such should proceed overwhelmingly in the private and civil sectors, rather than in the public sector, if quality of education is to be maintained. Our public institutions more and more leave more and more to be desired.

How many people didn't get to go to school b/c those seats were filled with ex-military ?

How many ex-military would have benefitted more from the corresponding amount of cash to use on things other than school ?

It's "a success" b/c you can see the localized benefit, but you fail to see the distributed harm caused.

The number one error in amateur economic analysis is to fail to consider the ENTIRE system, but instead to examine the isolated good/bad. This is a good example of that error. The "broken window" fallacy is another.
