Article Courtesy of BIG ED and The Perry Panther Football website.

Perry 33 Stow 7 (Final)

Part I

After opening up a 27-7 halftime lead, the skies opened up and the lightning flashed suspending the game until tomorrow morning. The game will be played at Perry with the JV's playing 2 quarters after the varsity finishes. Here is the scoring recap for the first half.

Perry...Chris Kortis 30 yard run (kick failed)
Stow...Flaherty to Ziegler 16 yard pass (kick good)
Perry...Kortis 4 yard run (Swick run)
Perry...Woodard 6 yard run (kick failed)
Perry...Bob Perez 8 yard run (Perez kick)

Perez and Mike Schlieden both had interceptions for the Panthers.

Part II

The Panthers and Stow Bulldogs resumed play this morning at Perry under a driving rain, but no lightning. It seemed to affect both teams as neither team did much with their first possessions. The rain stopped and both teams started to move the ball. The Panthers had a good drive going on their second series of the half, but a fumble at the Stow 37 stopped their momentum. The Bulldogs then moved the ball for 2 first downs and went for a fourth and 6 at the Perry 31 when they threw an incomplete pass. The Panthers took over and in typical Perry fashion drove 69 yards taking up the rest of the quarter and 3 minutes of the fourth before wb Kevin Woodard ran it in on a sweep from 11 yards out. The pat was no good and the Panthers led 33-7. Stow moved the ball into Perry territory aided by a 35 yard pass from Flaherty to Ziegler. The Panthers took over on downs when the defense stiffened as the Bulldogs again missed connections on a fourth down pass. The Panthers then substituted freely on offense as sophomore Jason Foote took over at qb. After a Panther punt, Stow drove again into Perry territory against the Panthers backups, but Jason Foote thrwarted any scoring ideas as he intercepted a Flaherty pass at the Perry 6. The Panthers travel to Canton's Fawcett Stadium next saturday for a big early season showdown against the McKinley
