Was there ever any comment from.........................................

Just wondered if there was ever any comment or statement from the Whitehall coach about the end of the Massillon game? Not looking to stir anything up, just wondered if anyone ever saw anything in print.

Long story short version, there was a personal foul penalty called on Whitehall when one of their players dove on top of the Massillon holder after he had fallen on top of a bad snap on an extra point attempt.
After that, the entire Whitehall team left their sideline and sprinted onto the field looking to start a fight. There were kids ripping of their jerseys and throwing their helmets. The officials threw about 5-6 more flags on Whitehall and then met at midfield for about 5 minutes, after which they sent Whitehall to their locker room and called the game. There were about 42 seconds left in the game at the time.
To Massillons credit, not one player left their sideline.

Very embarrassing and disapointing display that mars a good effort from a heavy underdog.

Coach and players in the game article expressed regret but also mentioned Massillon trash talking g throughout which shouldn’t prompt what happened . Massillon obvious better club game a bit mired competitive than they thought , starts talking / taunting and Whitehall handles that very poorly at the end of the game . Didn’t hear of dirty play from W- Hall throughout the game.

https://twitter.com/teamburgesspr/st...17915575136261 . And no flags.

Must be Massillon's fault. Ok.

Harry, would you happen to be able to post the link to that article?

Just to be clear, Whitehall kids were chirping at Massillon kids before the opening kick off. Trash talking goes on during every game. To think otherwise would be foolish. Like you said though, trash talking is no excuse to leave the sideline and start a fight.

Were you on the field ? Iím just relaying what was said by the other side. You and I werenít on the field right? I donít care about Massillon at all . Scioto kids a couple years ago may have heard some trash talking as well , but again not on the field to hear it .

I realize some games have extreme trashtalking going on and all games including most I ever played in in multiple sports had some . That previous post wasn’t directed to you. I’m
Not a fan of either team and I agree Whitehall is wrong here and conducted themselves very poorly and deserve rebuke . Just a short few words in the game article that mentioned regret of losing composure and poor behavior and trash talk that went on . This weeks news sports has recaps of all CO games which went quite well overall but that episode is a black eye for that program.

You and he were not on the field no, but the pics I posted were.

Another case of "what you see isn't what happened"?

Its cool. In any case to answer the question yes I do hope, and would be interested to hear, what OHSAA has something to say about it. Might have a query for that official too. That's how things get out of hand.

Was it the whole Whitehall team? The two videos that TigerPaw posted showed #44 basically throwing punches. Should have been ejected both times. I have no dog in the fight. I am just curious if it was one or two bad apples or more of a team thing.

One thing is for sure, #44 needs to be punished somehow.

To presume that either team was innocent in that kind of scenario is illogical.

Those pictures aren't from the Whitehall game they were from the Walnut Ridge game. Massillon wore black jerseys in the Whitehall game. But to answer your questions yes every player from the Whitehall team charged the field at the end as well as the coaches and had to be escorted by police. The officials didn't help because the whole game was poorly called and just made matters worse.

The two videos shown here are separate from the game ending escapades.

To answer your question, from the videos I've seen, much of Whitehall's team left the bench at the end of the game but not the whole team.

I saw no one from Massillon leave the bench.

Thanks for the clarification on the Twitter videos being from a different game.

But again, not all of Whitehall's team left the bench at the end of the game.

And this statement "The officials didn't help because the whole game was poorly called and just made matters worse" is said about every Massillon game ever played.

It gets old.

Just received a pm and owe everyone a major apology. The pics I posted were from a Yearling discussion but they are actually from the Walnut Ridge game. Sorry.

Oh I see T96 already corrected me, thanks.

Congrats! For the second year in the row, the Tigers are the only team left in the playoffs. Kudos to everyone involved from Stark County's best high school football program.

I am not a Massillon fan that always blames the refs I'm stating what I observed at the game and the officiating was very poor all the way thru and if you attended or watched the game it is a very clear statement.

The whole team left the sidelines and ran to midfield.

While I do not doubt that there was trash talking coming from Massillon players, like you stated.
I also do not doubt for one second that Whitehall was engaging in the trash talking as well.

Unlike you, I am not willing to go ahead and suggest that Massillon started it.

Having said that, there is no reason for the entire team to rush the field and attempt to start a melee.

Boy, that encompasses over 1000 games. But I know that since you are a stickler for accuracy you will be able to provide proof of this claim.
