20 min. Thanks! That’s what I’ve seen for years, and no “ceremonial” re-flip minutes before kickoff that I’ve ever witnessed.

I get that there’s no proscribed location for the toss, but in practice, midfield just seems like the place I’ve always seen it done. And strangely enough, there was a game this year where one team’s captains joined the refs at midfield for the toss and the refs dismissed them very unceremoniously to their sideline only to invite them back to center field along with the other team’s captains the very second they hit the stripe. It seemed remarkably weird at the time, but I can understand the refs wanting both teams to follow the same procedure in joining them for the toss of the coin. That crew must really like formality.

Unfortunately, you're not capable of handling the truth.
It’s 2018 post the video online.

I was at the game, something you can never say you are, all of the WY team left the sidelines then minutes later they were all told to leave the field and go to the lockeroom.

Is there a chance that the team's captains went to midfield before the officials were ready for them? My experience is that the officials escort each team's captains to midfield simultaneously.

And I've also failed to see one of those "ceremonial" coin flips.

Really? I guess we will never know. Maybe you should be concerned about McKinley's playoff record from 2013-2018 which is 1-5? In addition, Massillon has won 71% of the recent games with your Pups.

Absolutely a chance. And I’m sure that was it—though I think the officials were already ready and just wanted the approach to be the same for both teams. At any rate, it sure did look petty of the refs to make them walk all the way to the sideline just so they could signal for them to come right back to midfield.

Almost as petty as making a player remove their “Salute to Service” sleeves—if I saw that correctly at the last game. I was waaaay up in the top row.

Typo? D-1?

Anyway, that would mean that you would have schools of over 900 playing schools with under 500.

Isn't that why they went to divisions in the first place?

It was a typo but even with that it was an idiotic statement to make. Especially looking at the results of head to head competition the last several years. But, it's Canton. Not really know for their brains coming out of there in the first place.

In a season full of dumb threads, this is right at the top. No one cares why some kids ran on the field. They stopped the game. Everybody went home. Class dismissed.

I wonder if you would have the same opinion of the events if it had been Massillon doing what Whitehall Yearling did? I SERIOUSLY doubt it.

I've been going to high school games in one capacity or another for over 50 years. I have NEVER seen a ceremonial coin toss.

I know of a couple of leagues that mandate the teams be on the field for the National Anthem. It is not common though.
