Lakota West QB Transfers to LaSalle

Via WCPO's Mike Dyer

https://www.facebook.com/groups/wcpo...3233481971290/

Quote:
Lakota West 2020 quarterback MyJaden Horton has decided to transfer to La Salle and will enroll in January, La Salle confirmed Thursday morning.
Horton, one of the areaís top football players in the 2020 class, has scholarship offers from the University of Louisville and University of Kentucky.
His decision to attend La Salle was aided by the fact he has friends who attend the school.
Horton will be required to sit out the first five games of the 2018 season due to the Ohio High School Athletic Association transfer bylaw.
Horton, listed at 6 feet 2 and 180 pounds this past season, threw for 989 yards and five touchdowns for the Firebirds in 2017. He also rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns.
Looks like the GMC has a new GCL-S school to boycott.

Unlikely. LS is arguably doing us a favor.

This time to Moeller. The Wing-T claims another victim.

And LaSalle didn't even have to go to Indiana to get him

Hope he doesn't "transfer" back to Lakota West for his senior season.

Gotta keep up with Akron Hoban. What won state against D2 public's will not work against those northern Catholic schools. Gotta have a D1 QB

I am really not understanding all of the nasty remarks. Here is the bottom line, this kid is a good kid I personally know him. He plays at Lakota West for Larry Cox who will do nothing all to develop him as a QB because it is well documented that Cox is not a very good coach, as a matter of fact he is pretty bad. Just maybe the parents took him to visit some of the GCL schools that he might have a decent opportunity to compete for a starting job next year and get developed as a QB and get a first class education. He damn sure wasnt going to get developed as a QB at Lakota West. Maybe, just maybe the parents are taking the initiative and not the schools. Looks like he went to a couple of schools to shadow, several kids are transferring away from LW, he is just the one that happens to be going to the GCL.

Maybe. God forbid a young man and his parents do something for his future.

Did they research LaSalle's debt? Or why their last principle was fired?

I doubt it as that is not on most peoples checklist of things to do when looking for a High School for their kids. As long as LaSalle is going to be around at least two more years I would say they did ok. By the way I am not a LaSalle guy but I hate to see the venom being spat by some as it relates to a 15 to 16 year old kid.

I rarely feel that, in situations like this the shots that are fired are fired at the kids, it's mostly at the hypocrisy of the system and/or the adults involved. In this particular case....in my opinion....it's at the hypocrisy of the system. The OPHSAA strikes again.

Are you still unclear about all this? According to a publication I received earlier this year, LS went through an audit like two years ago and has re-positioned itself in partnership with a major accounting firm.

Your narrative is old. You'd be better served worrying about the dreadful marketing your school has out there.

Hey Mick, would you count sending post cards out to 5-8 graders with the wrong names on them dreadful marketing? And I'll bet it had a great impact on their "healthy" budget being looked after by a major accounting firm. Ol QBTrainer is just looking to make the world a better place. New record, same song.

This! It's still funny to read all these accusations about recruiting when 99% of the time it's the families making decisions and marketing their children. But there are also some families just trying to find the best possible path for their child. The only thing I question though, is that why now? Anyone who's followed high school football in the Cincinnati area knows Cox has always underdeveloped the talent at that school. Why didn't they start out at a LaSalle type school? This is why it will get more scrutiny than normal because you have to believe tuition was one of the reasons that kept him from going to a private school from the start. But now they can afford it?!?!?

I wish the kid luck except against Moeller but transferring after already being in a school for two seasons just seems odd and a little shakey.

According to the article he's got D1 offers...someone was developing him. Sure doesn't sound like he was being held back or undiscovered.

He had offers before he ever took a varsity snap. It definitely wasnít the Lakota coaching staff. His parents obviously made a decision to make a move to what they see as a better situation. There are a couple of other LW football players that are transferring to other schools in addition to him.

Couple of players are staying but will never play football again at LW. They have decided to focus on Baseball and maybe basketball. Coach Cox wanted to stay until the 2020 class graduated because they had so much potential but they are all leaving the program one way or the other. Can't say that I blame them. Success breeds success. One should not reinforce failure.

Honestly, with LW's coach, I would transfer too. Cox should have been let go after this year. He had a rebellion on his hands this year with the offense who asked that he stop calling the plays. He was holding on for the class of 2020. The game has passed him by and the AD should have let him go. Not surprising at all.

Yeah, Cox has done less with more talent. Honestly they should be consistent GMC contenders with Colerain. At the very least mainstays in the playoffs.

I'd like to know if he is going for free. I'm sure the rest of Lancer Nation would also like that answer. Oh yeah, there's that clause in their agreement...."don't tell anybody else what your aid amount is."

Right here is the sleezy part. Little Leo the computer whiz kid had to pay full tuition, But a star QB pays peanuts because of Booster footing the bill.

The boosters have had enough of this so I guess the archdioceses will cover it with LS unpaid debt.

No sh*t, but luckily for the computer whiz's of the world the tables generally tend to turn in their favor in about 10 years money wise. Especially if this QB does not turn his athletic scholarship into an education that can provide a decent living.

I am sure he was given a scholarship purely and only for his leadership qualities LOL.

Wonder how he will take to LaSalle. From a large public school to school to a school with 1000 boys and under. I wonder if LS still drug tests. Not trying to say that this would be an issue what so ever for this young man but pointing to the fact that I am sure LS will be a much "tighter ship".
