CHL baseball title? Up for grabs

Seems like Madeira fell off pretty bad last year (went from 11-3 in 2015 to 6-7 in 2016)

Reading graduated vanover, Kirby and Barron (that was a combined 17 of their 21 wins)

Taylor graduated mock , mutter and murray (that was 16 of their 19 wins)

With those 6 senior arms out of reading and taylors lineup does that open the gate for someone else to win a league title?
Indian hill lost to Taylor 5-3 and 2-0
And they split with reading

Does Taylor or reading have some fresh new talent that no one knows about? I know Hughes was a transfer from oak hills last and went 2-1 as a freshmen starter he could be a valuable arm from Taylor.

Reading and Madeira shared had a hold on the league since 2008 until Taylor shared the title with reading (Taylor's first league title since 2001)

Thoughts ? Predictions?

well looks like they square off with Taylor on Mon/Wednesday of next week.

down fall for Wyoming may only be their first or 2nd game depending on the weather Taylor already has 4 under their belt.

Jordan Spivey looks to be dealing well for taylor to start the year off early.

he was 1-1 last year. Already is 2-0 this year

Taylor earned their 4th win of the year over New Richmond today.

I also learned Taylor JV went undefeated last year a lot of these sophomore/junior arms were on,that squad last year

I have watched 3 CHL teams play (taylor , reading and Deer park)
and Taylor is head and shoulders above those 2. Reading just lacks the big arms they had last year. I haven't watched madeira or IH play yet should get a chance since taylor plays IH next week. BUT taylors under classmen (who I assume were on JV last year) are showing up strong!

Mooney 4-0 17k's
Spivey 4-0 14K's
Hughes 2-1 19K's

all 3 of those arms are under classmen for taylor. they are 1 error against northwest in the 6th inning (they were up 1-0 at the time) from being 12-0

Taylor 4-0
madeira 2-0
the only 2 left in the league that haven't lost

Taylor has scored 128 runs in 12 games and was ranked #2 in the city coaches poll (a few votes behind chca)

I think you are getting ahead of yourself. The CHL is down this year big time. Taylor is solid but they have two good wins on their season. Ross and New Richmond. I would bet neither Ross or New Richmond threw their best arms in those games, but Taylor probably didn't either. Taylor is no doubt the team to beat at this point, but Madeira has played a really good schedule to this point and that might help them in the long run. A lot of season left, but not sure if any team from the CHL will be able to do a lot in the tourney this year.

What did he say that is getting ahead of himself? He thinks Taylor is really good. The coaches that vote in the poll seem to agree with him. He didn't predict any huge post season titles.

If Taylor hasn't played any worthy opponents then how can you judge their post season chances? All they can do is play the teams on their schedule and they have dominated. Which teams do you think are poised for a post season run and on what criteria did you judge them?

I would say getting ahead of yourself in terms of saying that they are really good, based on the competition they have played to this point. They are good, no doubt. They have played great, but to make a run in the tournament you have to have really good pitching. It doesn't look like anyone in the CHL has really good pitching this year. Mariemont has Seeger and Madeira has Wirsling. Both really good arms. But when you hit the tourney and you have to beat New Richmond with their number 1 on the mound, or Badin with their 1, or CHCA for the d3 schools or Summit with Mcmurray or Batavia with their 1. Not sure any team in the CHL this year has an arm to matchup with those guys besides maybe Seeger and Wirsling. It's no knock on Taylor as they are having an awesome year. Simply pointing out that besides Ross and New Richmond their schedule hasn't been real tough yet. Hopefully all the CHL teams can make runs in the tourney, just tough if you don't have the pitching.

As far as the coaches poll, if you look at the number of actual votes it's based on 19 votes from coaches. So only 19 coaches out of all the D2 and D3 teams in the city even vote for it. Can't put to much into the coaches poll.

Fact is, Taylor may have already beaten New Richmond and Ross's number ones. Sounds to me like your opinion is at least as subjective as anyone's. not a whole lot of facts there. I'm guessing some of those 19 coaches have a more objective opinion but who knows?

Taylor is good (I'm not predicting a state title not this year at least)... 5 of these guys have played summer ball together for years now.

You have to have pitching , offense and chemistry and they have all 3! Great thing is 80% of the team will be together for 2 1/2 more years

Taylor is young very young

they played a beat a good/younger Ross team who won 16 games last year
and are 11-2 this year

Beat a good New Richmond team who is 13-2 on the year

taylor is 1 error in the 6th against northwest away from being unbeaten

mind you doing that with 2 seniors in the starting lineup

I didn't call them world beaters BUT they are pretty good considering how young they are and are setup to be VERY good in the next few years.

tomorrow vs Colerain will be a good test for them
if Flueck or fischer pitch for Colerain tomorrow it could spell trouble for the jackets. both throw high 80's and have some nasty off speed stuff.

I would GUESS since they are 7-2 in the GMC they wont throw one of their horses.
