Wayne

No talk on the Wayne Invite?

Nothing on Milesplit?

Biggest and best meet in Ohio and I hear crickets.

Any preview or predictions?

Here are the heat sheets.

It looks like it will be a great event. I like seeing some events that aren't normally contested in most meets - DMR, shuttle hurdle relay, hammer, triple jump. I like the SMR but there are enough other sprinting events. Even in a 2 day meet it's tough to get everything in given qualifying heats, etc.

I'm not sure how so many athletes have seed marks in the hammer & TJ. Those events are rarely contested. Did the coaches take marks from practice and give a best guess? I assume that some marks were from a previous season but that wouldn't explain a frosh having a mark. I know that the Eastwood Relays in Bowling Green had the hammer but in Ohio not many meets have it. Other states have some events we don't normally see. California contests the TJ, Rhode Island the Hammer & Javelin, New York the TJ & Pentathlon, Pennsylvania the Javelin & TJ. I'm sure there are others but these are the states that came to mind. Oddly enough, Ohio was 2nd of all states last year in the number of ranked hammer throws. I guess somehow they're competing but I never hear about it.

Here is a list of the state ranks from 2016.

Hopefully all is safe with the throws. I've thought a thousand times about the horrific accident this past weekend that resulted in the death of a Mason HS graduate after he was struck in the head by a hammer. It was tragic for the family and everyone that knew the young man. The thrower must be devastated as well.

I'm also hoping the weather will hold out. As of now there will be some rain today with a lot coming later tomorrow. Any meets held on Saturday will be held in tough conditions. Close to an inch of rain is in the forecast for most of SW Ohio. There will be lesser, but still substantial, amounts in Central & NE Ohio.

Props to the D3 Redskins of Fort Loramie for winning the 4x8 and setting a new school record.

Tremendous atmosphere at this meet last night. I was told that today would be even better. Thanks Wayne for an awesome experience!!!!

Looked for this meet on Baumspage and couldn't find it. Is it listed as the Wayne Invitational?

For any 4x8 fans out there, there is a great video of the boys race at Wayne. This one had a bunch of lead changes.

Search Mike Ballas on youtube. Look for: Wayne Fort Loarmie 4 by 800
