Andrew Jordan/Iowa State XC

I'm surprised that no one has yet mentioned Andew Jordan's outstanding performance at the Big 12 championship on October 28.

Iowas State was the champion behind Jordan's outstanding 4th place finish in 24:12.7. He was only 1.5 seconds behind the winner, Abdi Hassan of Oklahoma State, who came across in 24:11.2. The tea win for the Cyclones was somewhat of an upset as Oklahoma State was previously ranked #10 nationally vs ISU's #23 spot. The top three team scores were crazy -

1. ISU 40
2. Texas 41
3. OSU 44

The results are here

With the number of Ohioans that have gone to ISU in recent years, Jordan, Toby Hardwick, Luke Wagner (now at Ohio State!), I was surprised that they didn't snare one of the 2018 class runners.

Jordan has had a great career there so far. He was also 4th at Big 12 track meet in the 5000.

Chad Johnson committed there, so they actually did get an Ohio stud from the class of 2018

You're right, Chad. I knew that. Sorry about the oversight.

Jordan has been having a good indoor season at Iowa State. A few weeks ago at the UW Invite he went 7:56.61 in the 3000. At that time he was the first ISU runner to go under 8:00 in the 3000. A teammate of Jordan's bettered that time this past weekend at the ISU Invite and in the same meet Jordan ran a 7:57.04. He is now 2nd all-time for the 3000 at ISU.

In that ISU meet, Kyle Mau of Hudson and Indiana went 7:50.85 in the 3000.

On the women's side in the 3000 and runners with Ohio connections, Rebecca Craddock of Brunswick and Illinois won the open 3000 in 9:33.76.

In the women's 3000 Invite, freshman Elly Henes of NC State was 2nd in 9:07.76. Elly is the daughter of Bob Henes of Woodridge and Laurie Gomez-Henes of Boardman. Laurie is the current women's head XC coach at NC State. Both Bob Henes and Laurie Gomez-Henes had storied careers at NC State.
