Playoff seeding

This is going to be an interesting year for playoff seeding. There are going to be a lot of good early games and potential upsets.

There's definitely potential for some great early round match ups.

What will also be interesting is seeding. Moeller and Anderson are the clear 1 & 2 but beyond that I'm not sure how the coaches will vote. You could make a case for Fairfield, Turpin, Mason, St. X, and Lakota West to be the 3 seed.

My projected seeds:

1. Moeller
2. Anderson
3. Mason
4. St. X
5. Lakota West
6. Turpin
7. Sycamore
8. Fairfield
9. Everyone Else

Really anyone in the top eight has a chance at a deep run. Will be interesting to see potential match ups when bracket is released.

The tournament draw is held on October 8th, brackets should be out later that evening or early Monday morning.

My Assignor for the District Iím working for Sectionals said in the Availability Email that the Sectional pairings are being done differently this year.....seedings similar to the NCAA Ball tourney, "1 seed vs 16 seedĒ (by comparison), etc......and will be done on-line following the voting process. Perhaps thatís just this particular District, but it IS interesting......

Week 7 Coaches Poll... Depending on how games go this weekend, I'm guessing the tournament seeding will look close to this

1. Moeller
2. Anderson
3. Mason
4. Fairfield
5. Turpin
6. Lakota West
7. St. X
8. Sycamore
9. Carroll
10. Milford
11. Lasalle

Carroll is a dayton team so they will not be part of the cincinnati draw which is why I included Lasalle in the top.

Yes, it is up each District Board to decide how they want to do the district portion of the tournament. The only requirement OHSAA has is that the District advances their allotted number of teams to the Regional Tournament.

The northeast district is doing the "NCAA basketball style" brackets. In the northeast district, teams will vote at the end of this week and the results of the vote along with subsequent pairings will be released on Sunday.

In the northeast, no longer can the one seed go into an opening round game for instance and have two blowout wins that first week (assuming there aren't 16 teams in the group). Also, you can't have the all out assault on that three or four seed from teams seeded five through eight.

Would love to see Southwest Ohio do this.

So tonight Fairfield tied Moeller to take Moeller to 10-1-3 and Anderson beat Lebanon to take them to 14-1-0.

I know Anderson's one loss is to Moeller, but does this make them #1 at the voting tomorrow or have the coaches already voted?

Moeller should get the #1 seed.....I donít think thereís much debate. They played the more difficult schedule and they won the head to head matchup. Iíd be shocked if they didnít get it. That being said, I donít think it really matters much.

How do you seed Mason vs Fairfield? They play on Thursday...so no head to head. Mason played a much tougher schedule but identical GMC records.

Looks like I overrated St. X and underrated Mason. I think the Turpin/Sycamore are the consensus bottom either #7 or #8.
