I Have a question.
On Wednesday night, in region 23 of the state duals, Blanchester wrestled West Jefferson. On Baumspage it says that at the 195 weight class Speakman pinned Peters in 1:38.
Well Peters had a season ending injury two weeks ago and didn't even go to the duals. So I guess my question is how can they say he wrestled when he didn't?

His name may have still been on the roster and when they bumped up another wrestler baums page didn't allow for the name change on site (as in at the table when wrestlers check in to wrestle).

This happened with my squad a few years ago, I had a guy get hurt after rosters were due so and had to bump up the backup from the weight below and it showed my original starter as getting the results of the match. Pretty sure they went back and fixed it after the regional semi round but I'm not 100% on that.

I'll take:
Swanton, Genoa, Waynedale, Tuslaw, Northmor, NY, Tate, Versailles.

Tuslaw and Genoa in the finals. Tuslaw the winner.

Edison/Genoa
Rootstown/Tuslaw
Possibly the 4 best teams and 2 of them won’t make it to Columbus? If this is true, what a shame.

Your boy took his forfeit like a champ yesterday...their only match, and the other team was smart to forfeit around him since they didn't have the next weight class up.

It is a shame that two of these teams won't make it to Columbus as both are top 5 teams for sure. The state definitely needs to look at how they are assigning regions and make it more about the kids, rather than geography.

Team tournaments for every other sport are based off geography. Midwest Athletic Conference routinely has the two best teams in the state in football, boys and girls basketball, Volleyball, and occasionally other sports and meet up in the district or regional tournaments.

Edison is good but Swanton has already beat them. It stinks that they to face Genoa but I don't think theywould have made the semi's in Columbus. Just my opinion.

If you reassign one of those teams to another regional, then you possibly start up the complaining about travel and teams driving "all over the state" and how that doesn't make sense, etc. Can't please everyone and the system isn't perfect. Tough break, but glad we have this tournament to begin with.

2012 Waynedale lost to Tuslaw and didnt get to "State Duals", A month later was crowned TEAM CHAMPS at the Indiv Tournament with 6 placers. It happens.

Cannot always avoid this at the regional level. Hopefully with the new one day format they seed the entire region and these would be regional final matches instead of regional semi-finals.

Yes. But we also had a good dual team, had 2 starters...one a state runner up, out with nursing injury.

It's very unfortunate in D3 that out of the best four or five teams, two of them will be displaced prior to the state tournament based on the regional assignments. In a division where the dual team strength is already not strong, this to me is a real issue.

R17: Swanton (3 seed)
R18: Genoa (1 seed)
R19: Waynedale or Independence
R20: Tuslaw (2 seed)
R21: Northmor (if they don't make it, will they ever?)
R22: Amanda-Clearcreek (being a fuller team has them beat Nelsonville-York yet again)
R23: I'd be guessing completely, maybe Bethel-Tate again
R24: Miami East (put it this way they have the most roster talent, not sure if they fill the rest sufficiently, or even if that will matter)

Seriously it's no different than the individual districts/regionals some of the kids/teams won't make it it to State. It's the reality of the location in the State you live in. The best Teams and wrestlers will win a State title regardless of the assignment of the State. Bottom line if you are the best team or wrestler you will win the title.

+1

Life is not fair. That is the lesson coaches and parents can teach here.

Two best teams dont always make the SB
Best teams are in the West Conf of NBA
Somebody has to play UConn girls
Yankees have way more money than everyone but the Dodgers

You act like Blan and CNE are so far away from most "Cincinnati teams". Must be your first trip out of Hamilton County.

Tomorrow. Nothing to talk about? Rootstown revenge on Tuslaw? Genoa/Edison? Is Genoa/Edison going to win it all? Tuslaw maybe thinking something different..?

Rootstown is too young this year imo. They will make some noise though in the next few years. Slaw will represent in Cbus this year. I am wrong 63% of the time tho

Based on the Rootstown/Milan Edison dual result from the weekend, one would think Tuslaw enters a strong favorite, just too many holes for the Rovers to compete against a balanced Tuslaw squad.

Genoa favored vs. Milan Edison, especially after seeing their win from the weekend. They're also the favorites at team state one week from Sunday. Tuslaw would be the only team there that can pinch the title, and that would be more based on balance than heavy hitters.

Just FWIW Tuslaw will be missing a wrestler because of a flagrant unsportsmanlike.

CNE on a bus from our school was 1 hour 9 mins. not my first rodeo , BUT 3 of the 4 teams that were in our sub region were within 7 miles of one another. The "odd ball" was CNE who was an hour + from the 3 other schools. I'm in no way shape or form "complaining" but I wish OHSAA would have taken that into consideration when picking a host site.

Swantopia!! Lol, changing my prediction, I say 15 th at best with 1 placer , your boy should make finals. Swantopia is a solid dual meet team but I think they lack individuals
