On the eve of the 2017 season, this is strange timing:

Kramig Resigns as Miami Soccer Coach

It will be interesting to see if Bobby's successor likes Ohio players more than he did.

UC beats Northern Illinois 4-0 in an Exhibition match Sunday. They have another at Indiana this Friday.

It sounds as if everything is fine with him and it wasn't for health reasons. From the press release that I linked to:

“Coaching soccer at Miami has been one of the great joys of my life,” Kramig said. “While I can’t imagine life without my team, it’s time for me to spend more time with my family.”

While I wish the best for him, the timing of this isn't good unless it was a succession that was planned well before the announcement. I would think that if Kramig knew last week that he wanted to retire he also would have known at the end of last season. Since he is a state employee, I'm wondering if the timing had anything to do with his pension - i.e., working past July of 2017 bumped him into the next tier and resulted in a higher pension payment.

Thanks for the update. I wonder if Nate is upset he took the XU job. He always wanted Bobby's job.

The game scores at that link will be updated on a regular basis throughout the season.

With the exception of the Ivies, most D1 women's programs open this upcoming Friday. Most Ivies open on August 25th and those that don't will open before the end of the month. Most men's programs also open around or on the 25th.

Not very impressive, but a win is a win. Too slow up front to compete nationally.

Whatever you say. They'ii get better. Many makeable shots not converted. That has to improve. I don't think they are going to compete with the big girls this year but give them a year or two they might.

Watched Clemson beat IU today 1-0. KHA's Sidney Kilgore (Soph) didn't start for IU but was very effective up top. OE's Courtney Jones (Frsh) was a playmaker and created most of Clemson's offensive opportunities.

Why so worried about UC, Howie? I guess they had no interest in your Golden spike Princess, so you had to make the trek to UCF. Quit whining, Snowflake!

I've been busy this week and didn't have much time to look at a lot of non work stuff, but I did hear about your daughter. Congrats to her. Also heard OE's old goalie who went to North Carolina started in the win vs. Duke. Nice to see the local girls do good!

UC ties Pitt 2-2. The good news is they came back from 0-2 in the 2nd half. They out shot Pitt 34-7 so certainly had opportunities to win. Miami Hurricane next on Sunday.

Actually, only one of those players knew how to play!
Futhermore, ask any of those players: Who did more for them, their previous club or OESA?
Most of those girls were glad they made the switch and are proud to be OESA alumni!

The margin that UC outshot Pitt by is impressive but they've got to finish. UC should have never been in a position to be down by 2 against Pitt. Pitt is not a good team. They're bottom of the barrel in the ACC.

I watched both overtime periods. I hope that both teams had tired legs and that what I saw was not indicative of the entire game. There was a lot of slop. I don't think I saw more than two consecutive passes strung together by either team and both seemed to not be able to keep the ball on the ground. There was a lot of kickball going on - boot it up the field and hope for the best. There was no building up of an attack or playing it out of the back. Perhaps by the time I started watching both sides were in panic mode. OT periods with golden goals tend to do that to a team's mentality.

The Hurricanes will present a more formidable challenge for UC though have had some struggles over the past year. Good luck to the Bearcats.

I agree with most of what you said. In OT both teams were in panic mode and not putting together good passes. UC definitely has to finish. They had a truck load of shots but probably only a handful of remotely difficult saves for the Pitt goalie. I think in regular time the game was better played. Pitts second goal was due to a swing and miss by a UC player. There was a shot in the last minute by UC that was definitely a handball in the box. Ref didn't make the call which was too bad as it would have given UC a chance to win..but thats part of the game I suppose.
