longest rivalry win streaks in Ohio

I have been wondering: what are some the longest winning or losing streaks in series in Ohio? I am asking about active streaks and overall streaks.

I know that going into 2013, Columbus de Sales had beat Saint Charles 36 straight. St C beat them that night 36-0.

Are there any current streaks that go back to the 90's or even the 80's?

Thanks.

We checked on the DeSales streak against St. CHarles several years ago. We could find nothing like it in high school in the US. Most coaches who go 2-6 against a major rival might lose their job. St. Charles had many head coaches (some good) go 0-how many games played against DeSales. Some games were close, and St. Charles found ways to lose some of the games. So, St Charles won during the Ford administration and did not win again until the middle of the Obama administration.

The only comparable streak of victories in college over a "rival" was Notre Dame' s long winning streak of over 40 years versus Navy. Thanks to Charlie Weis and Brian Kelley that streak is now over.

I would be curious if there were any other streaks like these. I witnessed both of these streaks as student at both St. Charles and Notre Dame.

Coldwater has beaten St Henry 23 or 24 straight times. The last time the Skins edged the Cavs was in 1996 - well before any current players were born.

And SH has fielded great teams. They were state champs in 2004 and 2006, compiling impressive 14-1 records both seasons.

In week 5 this year, CW squeaked by SH 13-10.

What usually happens is when a rivalry gets really lopsided, the losing school just gives up. It's too easy to do that in high school. The winning school might give up because the game doesn't bring them any playoff points.

There's a very simple explanation. They lost all those games because they never had any cheerleaders.

That is quite impressive. I wonder what some of the streaks are against schools like Parkway or New Bremen. The MAC is such a competitive league.

The last Parkway win against Coldwater was 1988 and the last New Bremen win against Coldwater was 1997.

Toledo Central Catholic has beaten its archrival, Toledo St Francis De Sales 13 straight times. When I was at Central, we lost every time to St Francis. It wasn't until Dempsey that it turned around. He won a couple and lost a couple early on in his tenure. But since 2003 the games have rarely been close. Toledo Whitmer is starting to become the main rival it seems.

From the outset of the Pusateri / Jock High era, it was understood that the Karl Road Sports Academy annual thumping of the Ivy League was not an actual rivalry. The results were split in the 60s which is the last decade that Chucks fielded a competitive football team.

My thought is when there's consistent domination, it loses its luster as a rivalry. Kind of like the Steelers/Browns.

Whoa 52?....Incredible.

Didn't know that was the case even though we (Greenhills)used to play Wyoming and Finneytown in the old Hamilton County National League.

Not surprised though.

Disclaimer. This is based on a thread about the CHL. I assume it to be true.

Not much reason to doubt it. Wyoming has been consistently good for at least the past 40 years; whereas I rarely hear of Finneytown being good at any sports, let alone football.
