Also, the last time the Cards faced X at Mason, it was the biggest blowout by Colerain ever in the series.

I think Colerain's offense is obviously MUCH better than they were in week two of the season, and the Defense has been great all year. I don't see any indications that St. X is any better or worse than they were in week two.

I don't think the Cardinal's defense will allow another 4th quarter comeback by X this time.

Tofer23's Pick:

THe Mighty Colerain Cardinals 31

St. Echs Bumbers 24

Whooaaa Nelly, You keep talking about how much better Colerain has gotten, and I am sure they have gotten better as has X. Lets talk about the body of work that you are basing that assumption on. Beating Lakota West, Lakota East Oak Hills , sycamore Fairfield and Middletown is not the same as beating Louisville ST X, Cathedral, Elder, Moeller and Lasalle. The teams that you are touting your defensive superiority against are for the most part, to quote charles Barkley "Turrible" Who else have you played other than X and LaSalle??? Lets remember what happened in both of those games. I think it will be a good game, but I am not buying that crap about Colerain is so much better, because the competition that they played was lack luster at best. The teams that we have played in common scores were pretty much the same, we blew fairfield out and we blew sycamore out, just like Colerain did, we also blew LaSalle out, which Colerain did not. The bottomline is those teams are very different from what you will see on friday night. The QB play will not be that of what you are used to facing in the GMC. Side Note LASalle, Cathedral and Louisville ST X are all in the 3rd round of playoffs in their state, everyone you played after X is at home watching and most of them did not make the dance at all. hmmm

Since the 1st St X game:

Iggy beat St X 28-14
Moeller beat Iggy 41-20
Colerain beat Moeller 45-0

Colerain should now be favored over St X by 83 points.
Now that is real improvement.

LaSalle beat Colerain 7-3
X plays a difficult schedule
Colerain plays on through the required 8 game schedule of the GMC

I don't know what you guys are fighting about. Colerain is the clear favorite.

They have the more talented, 100% scholarship team from that huge, demographically perfect geographic area. X has to piece together scraps from all over the city.

They have a team that has been playing together for 10 years learning their system. X kids just started playing together 3 or 4 years ago.

This is Colerain's game to lose. Even adding Jesus to the Bombers side isn't enough to tip the scales.

I just hope the Bombers can keep it close...

St X student section makes them the clear favorite. Especially when they all take their shirts off in the 4th quarter. It's an obvious distraction to the Colerain defense.

Colerain takes this one 17-14. They had X beat in the first meeting earlier this year and soiled themselves trying to close it out. X still has too many 3 and outs, and their running game has been pretty suspect all year long.

I have no doubt Colerain bends the rules for their student athletes as well. Heck, most high-school do it I'm sure.
From what I heard most of the bending around the entrance exam occurs with legacy students (those who's dad's are St X alums). Still a very good school but getting in is not as difficult as it once was.

.
X has to piece together scraps from all over three counties. So tough to put a team together. And then someone boasted 300 in the football program.

Our suspect running game was a big reason we jumped on Sycamore. Glad we're the underdog here.

Sycamore's strength on defense was in the secondary. Against the better teams on the schedule, X hasn't produced much in the running game:
Colerain - 24 rushes for 64 yards (2.7 ypc)
Cathedral - 32 rushes for 91 yards (2.8 ypc)
Elder - 27 rushes for 48 yards (1.8 ypc)
Ignatius - 24 rushes for 32 yards (1.3 ypc)

They were able to 114 yards on LaSalle but how much of that was in the first half?

Never said it wasn't, just pointing it out what I heard. It was relevant to the discussion that was going on earlier. No need to get all defensive about it.

Newman, Fox and Wolf were pulled after the 2nd series in the 3rd qtr vs Lasalle. They accounted for 102 of the 114 yards rushing

Alright Cardinals...... Looks like you are the under dogs going into this match up, according to these folks.

All (3) went with picking St. X.

Hope you prove them wrong!!!

ReLoad is an unknown quantity at this point
Back by popular demand....

ReLoad's Game Day Timeline Predictions

2:46am On Lane 1 at Colerain Bowl in the 8th frame of his 22nd game gocards struggles to lift a 6 pound ball, and summoning all of his strength throws it in the gutter. Staggering back to his seat he loudly exclaims he’s gonna call in sick for his shift at Jiffy Lube that starts in less than 5 hours. Being the only person on Lane 1 since 10pm he gets concerned looks from the folks on Lane 2.

6:55am alarm ringing and head throbbing go cards reaches for his cell dials work and let’s a co-worker at Jiffy Lube know he won’t be doing any oil changes today. His Cards play Saint Echs tonight and his pre-game activities will take all day.

8:51am cardinalsfan who hasn’t worked in a little over 4 years continues sleeping and dreaming of the triple option

11:33am Tofer23, laser focused on a Cardinal victory, hustles to finish stocking the Lawn and Garden section so he can leave work early

11:44am Coach Bolden, perspiration dripping from his forehead as he watches film of Chase Wolf and company, sends a Colerain aide to Gifts of the Spirit to purchase 8 dozen rosaries which he plans on passing out to players upon boarding the team bus

11:52am cardinalsfan finally rolls out of bed, opts not to shower and dons his Colerain double zero bright red jersey and red stretchable warmup pants, pops a Budweiser and heads for the garage.

12:00pm Tofer23 neatly folds his Home Depot smock, hangs it in his locker, punches out for the day and heads to the parking lot

12:24pm CardDad pulls his Chevy van into the Speedway gas station. While filling the tank he scratches his nuts

1:12pm Tofer23 pulls into Monfort Heights drive thru, pops the trunk on his red Caddy, tells the worker who greets him by name that he’ll take the usual while passing him 3 freshly printed $100 bills.

1:44pm Tyler Williams opens his closet door looking for tonight’s game shirt. He finds the only blue shirt amongst a sea of red and gently pulls it off its hanger. He puts it on with his tattooed biceps bulging, hangs his long pony tail over the back and admires the chest emblem that proudly states St. Xavier Coaching Staff. He smiles with satisfaction.

2:30pm Tofer23 pulls into Mount Airy Forest where CardDad and gocards wait in a smoke filled windowless van. He pops open the trunk and gocards checks inventory: liquor, lottery tickets, smokes and Trojans. Looks like a repeat of the previous nite. They will be ready for kickoff and much more.

2:36pm fish82’s daughter who is dating half the Moeller players all who will never play in a post-season game in their high school career gives her daddy a list of all the football players at StX that she suspects didn’t even take the entrance exam. fish82 is immediately on the phone with the OHSAA.

2:47pm Coach Bolden is told that StX also claims to have the market cornered on Cheez-Its’s so he immediately sends a Colerain assistant coach to Kroger to buy 7 dozen of the fun size bags of the delicious cracker.

3:17pm CardDad scratches his nuts

4:00pm At StX team mass begins as the entire team and coaching staff lift their eyes to the cross of Jesus

4:36pm Colerain players board the team buses as the Doobie Brothers Jesus is Just All Right blares from parking lot speaker system. A rosary and bag of Cheez-It’s can be found on each seat.

5:24pm Colerain players unable to get the rosaries over their head and around their neck toss the beads out the bus window and begin to throw bags of crackers at one another.

6:10pm CardDad scratches Tofer23's nuts. A brief scuffle ensues, followed by a group hug.

6:35pm CardinalsFan waddles up the stairs toward the press box where unlimited pizza and beer await as well as his microphone into which he will whine about how the officiating is “handcuffing" the Cardinals, something many will actually get use to after graduation

6:48pm Coach Specht, Head referee Bernie Bouchard and his officiating crew, all StX grads, laugh it up at midfield

7:06pm gocards, CardDad and tofer23 are denied entry into Dwire Stadium for possessing a variety of contraband, including firearms.

7:19pm Bolden delivers his pre-game motivational speech. His final words are “And remember we got girls, they don‘t have girls, and Jesus loves each and every one of you”

7:26pm The press box runs out of pizza and beer and CardinalsFan pitches a Brittney Spear’s worthy hissy fit

7:27pm The StX student section consisting of no less than 25 students dressed as the Messiah, begin a flurry of religious taunts.

7:30pm Kickoff!

I would have wrote this hours ago but I just stopped laughing. Reload I am curious if you have any insight into what is going on in the locker rooms at halftime? If you do please tell.
I would imagine someone is in there scratching their nuts or scratching their head or both.
