Not sure there's too much of a difference in draw for VASJ between Lakeside and Stow. Benny and Central moved up making things a bit less challenging at Stow, but now you have Warrensville and a pretty tough Gilmour there. At Lakeside, you have Lake who has been a frequent winner out there and a solid Jefferson program. Both districts are pretty balanced, I'd say.

Revere will probably be the favorite at Stow with Nance in his Senior year. They were competitive last year with mostly a younger team.

VASJ has an easier draw by far at Lakeside. Lake will be good but I don't see any team being on the same athletic level as Joe's. Revere might be the third best team at Stow. The do return most of their squad but I watched that team get blown out by Cornerstone last year and Bothwell outplayed Nance big time. Gilmore and Warrensville will have nice squads this year. Gilmore has the O'toole boys and CJ at the point and the Tigers always put a scrappy and athletic team on the floor.

Darn, I was really keeping my fingers crossed that SVSM would leave our district.

Canton D2 could really use a break. STV has been there for 10-12 years and no one has been able to get out. I know the teams just have to get better (yadda, yadda) but some of those teams like Alliance deserve the opportunity to move on and it just doesn't happen.

Believe me I know the OHSAA would never group to of these three, HOBAN, VASJ and STV STM, in the same district so Canton D2 would always be a private's district. Sorry kids!

I don't know the geographical rationale for STVM always being in Canton, but they'd have to be on the border of the Stow District, I would think. I don't know what the answer is. I wouldn't kick if OHSAA moved STVM up to D1. And I wouldn't complain if they switched them back and forth between Canton and Stow from year to year. Given CBP, I can't see OHSAA making the D1 move, but especially with the lower (non-D1) schools, I can see the argument to rotate traditional powers like the Irish between a couple of geographically relevant districts to open the door for other schools. But just looking at the map, D2 basketball in NEO is tough from a geographic point of view.

Hoban has been division 1 for the last couple years and will continue with CBP.

VASJ is in the right district based on geographical location. They are playing other area D2 schools from their area.

Last year Boardman played Stow in one semifinal and Canton played Lakeside in the other. Year before I think Stow played Lakeside and Canton played Boardman in the semis. I might be wrong on the latter....
