You don't think Syracuse, who's 4-4, is a way worse loss than a team you just put in your top 4?

Clemson does not have the wins yet
Right, so a bad loss and no good wins yet. What is the logic for ranking them ahead of OSU?

The Penn State win will lose some luster, I think they drop another game. Ohio State could very well drop another one to MSU, Iowa or Michigan. Do the Bucks get Wisconsin this year or no?

Feels like this could be the year a 2-loss team gets in, then again people have said that every year. It would not shock me to see Oklahoma, TCU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Clemson all lose a 2nd game.

They could meet Wisconsin in the Big 10 CCG, but no they don't meet in the regular season.

I looked at Penn State's remaining schedule and it is very unlikely that they drop another game.

I do not see Ohio State losing another game in the regular season.

Bama
ND
UGA
Oklahoma

At this point Bama/UGA will be one loss, that coming from the SECCG.

How I'd rank them from the committee's perspective (based on resume):

1. Georgia
2. Bama
3. Notre Dame
4. Clemson
5. Oklahoma
6. Wisconsin
7. Ohio State
8. Penn State

How I'd rank them based purely on strength of team going forward:

1. Bama
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. Georgia
5. Notre Dame
6. Oklahoma
7. Empty
8. Empty

I don't believe any team other than those six really matters

a 1 point loss to Georgia is a lot better than 15 to Oklahoma, and that game wasn't as close as the score.

best wins:

osu: psu, Army, ?
nobody else with even a winning record

ND: usc, nc state, msu

osu's only notable win was against psu who also haven't beat anybody. so yes, at this point its settled to anybody unbiased. things can change but right now the resumes are not close.

Exactly, Miami is a hot mess and is not playing like a top 4 team. No way they win their conference.

Ohio State has both Michigan's and at Iowa. If they play the way they did inthe 4th Qtr against Penn State they won't lose, but they haven't played like that for better stretches of this year.

Penn State - at Michigan State this week after losing to Northwestern last, the rest is a cakewalk

Notre Dame - visits Miami and Stanford, should win both but they've dropped games like these in the past

Oklahoma - @ OSU, TCU, WVU

TCU - Texas, @ OU, @ TT

Clemson - @ NC St

He raises a good point. If the against OSU point is they've only beaten Penn State and they haven't beaten anyone, it's fair to dissect the best wins of of teams ND beat.

For those wondering best wins:
Michigan State - Iowa (5-3)
NC State - Louisville (5-4)
USC - Stanford (6-2)

For starters the AP and Coaches Poll have nothing to do with the CFP Rankings. They're completely separate. The reason OSU is ranked ahead of ND in those polls is because the Bucks were ranked in the top 5 to start the year and the Irish were not ranked at all.

Finally got around to finishing my Week 10 rankings last night. The rankings I posted previously were works in progress.

Full Excel file attached for those curious about the points.

If I were to put my committee hat on (Top 5):

1. Georgia
2. Oklahoma
3. Notre Dame
4. Alabama
5. Ohio State

- Talent-wise, Georgia and Alabama are #1 and #2, however for "political" reasons (avoiding the SEC having two teams; giving OSU control of their destiny), the committee should split them like this.

- Clemson probably needs two of these teams to lose.

you might be on to something if it was notre dames only good win. or if the loss to Oklahoma looked better than the one to Georgia. you simply don't have either of those things.

when a team only has one good win it better be against somebody absolutely proven if you want to use it as a playoff case against a team with 3 good wins. osu will play a common opponent in msu. so if they win by more than 20 we can talk again.

notre dame has more good wins than the entire bigten conference has outside of them beating each other. the bigten as a whole did nothing in their non conference this season. their only good win was iowa over iowa st. the only other even decent win for the entire conference was Indiana over Virginia (being generous here but virginia does have a winning record in a p5 conference. it would be comparable to NDs win over boston college). otherwise not a single other mentionable win on the entire conferences resume. osu has to hope the selection committee totally ignores this fact and moves them up based on tv ratings as opposed to merit because their only good wins will be within a conference that hasn't shown anything to the rest of us.

You keep on going. One win does not make a entire case. If that is the case Ohio State has no chance of jumping Oklahoma unless they lose another game. Oklahoma has the best win of any team, so I guess they should be #3 right? Lets put Iowa State #4 because even at two losses they have the two best wins overall.

Ohio State got thumped, at home vs. Oklahoma. They then needed a pretty crazy comeback to beat Penn State at home, whose best win is against an unranled average Michigan team.

The same garbage points he makes, makes it clearer why OSU should be ranked below Oklahoma.

If this is the point being made to dismiss Penn State, then one must dismiss NC State as well right?

This sums it all up. Go back to sleep in your Ohio State pajamas in your parents basement. Trick or Treat starts at 6:00 pm.
