Just rode in a Tesla this weekend for the first time. Pretty damn slick.

Did it make you want to test drive one ? The instant torque has to be amazing.

Yes it did. If you’ve ever ridden one of the roller coasters that is magnet-powered it feels very similar to that. I️ think there are a couple like that at Cedar Point.

I hear that drivers need to be extremely careful around pedestrians in the city, because they are noiseless. A 700hp S would be awesome.

The car flipping show with the two Brits had an episode in which they bought a Maserati with an electric engine. Much more modestly powered than the top Tesla S and shorter range, but very light. It looked like fun.

This is intriguing - https://qz.com/1128372/natural-gas-c...powered-hesla/

So true....

Although I'm guessing that some of the less well-to-do Afrikaners can tell us some stories about modern-day racial discrimination that would sound like something many decades old.

Was just coming here to post the same thing

Article from TechCrunch

https://techcrunch.com/2017/11/23/te...ian-wind-farm/

Quote:
The Tesla battery facility can provide power to around 30,000 homes for over an hour when at full capacity, and it will be coming online within the next few days, with final testing underway to make sure the completed facility is ready to roll. The battery farm has a total capacity of 100 megawatts, which makes it the largest overall in the world.

The Wall Street Journal reports that while itíll be offering backup power during its final testing phase over the next few weeks, itís going to face its first significant stress tests beginning when Australian summer hits, between December and March. Thatís when temperatures soar, and the energy system is taxed as residents crank up the AC and otherwise try to compensate for the blistering heat.

Could this bank of batteries have value as a "peaker", to buffer consumption during maximum usage ?
