How can Ignatius go 15-0, when they have to play the mighty Eagles, the overwhelming favorite to be the state champion?

Interesting news. I'd think he would have a good shot in that district. He is certainly an intelligent and accomplished guy.

Did any Cats fans take in the Solon scrimmage? Reports on the Solon thread do not sound too promising.

I sure hope Solon is good this year, because if they're not, Cats need work. If you average out Metacomet's and Eddie Dwyer's reviews you come out that the scrimmage was fairly even. I had this feeling until the last part of the scrimmage - five plays from your opponents 20 yard line. Cats came out first and scored once (as well as throwing an interception in the end zone). Comets came out and scored on their first three plays (two passes and a run). Left a bad taste.

Solon will be good this year. Perhaps very good. I wouldn't look too much into the first scrimmage of the year with Ignatius breaking in a new defensive front seven and quarterback. I think the Cats will be more than fine with a bit of seasoning.

Are there still plans to build an indoor facility on the turfed Kyle field? No mention on the giving site:

Got it, thanks Tom. I wonder why it isn't mentioned on the giving site at all.

Looks like the Cats will be sporting new uniforms this year:

Are the Cats still wearing the mismatched gold pants, or did they disappear long ago?

The indoor facility won't be big enough for full football practice, but more for baseball. There is a possibility of a basement with indoor rowing pools, such as this one:

The bright gold (yellow) pants with the white stripes were replaced in 2010 or 2011, shortly after they first moved to Nike uniforms. They've gone back to the 90s style darker gold (same shade as the helmets) with two blue stripes and no white stripe. I'm not sure if they have new pants this year or just new jerseys.

I always liked the mismatched gold pants, especially when the Cats were playing teams which always had each year brand new uniforms and shiny helmets whose fans (hint, hint, think Stark County) thought that such finery played a role in winning football games.

The mismatched pants disappeared when completely new uniforms were donated by Anthony Gonzalez, after he signed with the Colts.

An indoor rowing pool would be a huge boon for the crew team. I hadn't heard about that.

I had been looking forward to watching the McKinley jamboree but unfortunately I now will be on a plane and doubt I'll have good enough wifi to stream. Does anyone have a sense of how the starting lineups are rounding out?

Although this has nothing to do with football, Wildcat fans might want to know that Fr. Bernard Streicher, S.J., passed away this morning at the age of 88.

RIP Fr. Bernie. Remarkable that he taught generations of students at Ignatius for part to all of 6 decades. A Jesuit for 70 years!

I saw the schedule for Spectrum TV broadcasting NEO HS football games. It showed the game between St. X and Ignatius at 2:00. I had seen everywhere else that it was at 3:00. Can someone in the know verify 100% what is the accurate kickoff time. Thanks.

Who do we think will start at QB, Hall or Alexander? What types of QBs are these kids? Dual threat? Pass only?

It's not clear (other than to the coaches)

The junior Delahunty started the McKinley game and the offense scored 10 pts in the 1st quarter that he played (along with jr RBs Floyd and Jack Kennedy and jr WRs Drummond and Cooper)

Alexander played the 2nd quarter vs the Pups and the offense scored 2 FGs

I assume Hall played the 3rd quarter and neither team scored

In Ignatius' offensive scheme, it appears they all have to be dual threat.
They all are taller than 6 foot.
We'll soon find out what their strengths are.
