Well this definitely warranted it's own thread, and not just adding it to the thread on Kaepernick, which 14Red also started and spelled correctly.

That's why it's coming out like this. My guess is they don't sign him, who would want the headache.

Pretty sure this has been discussed for like a month now. Why choose to make a thread today?

I'm curious. In an day and age where it takes less than 15 seconds to open an internet window, open google, type "Colin Kaepernik [sic]" and have the page load how are you consistently wrong about every topic you post on? Even basic stuff such as spelling Colin Kaepernick or Amir Garrett's names.

His ideas of social activism are far from his biggest problem as an NFL QB. He just plain sucks as a drop back passer. He's only succeeded for one year in a gimmick offense that Harbaugh designed around him, and then defending him was figured out. No one is going to design and practice a second offense around a back-up, so his options are limited to teams like Seattle and Carolina.

Maybe Seattle picks him up. If they don't, if some team loses their starting QB to injury and their back-up fails, they may sign him if Seattle hasn't. The harm his politics have caused him is grossly overstated. Seriously - if he was decent, few would really care.

The media that he whored himself to is still going to follow him around, I guess. Then, if he doesn't start - because he can't play the position the right way for most NFL offenses - those same idiots will ask if a grudge is being held for past politicizing.

I can't see that happening on any team that has a established starter.

I wouldn't say he "whored" himself to the media but I get what you're saying but he's obviously being blackballed by the owner's. How can a career journeyman quarterback get snatched up right away(Ryan Fitzpatrick) and others as backups and a starting Superbowl QB who less than 5 years ago was 2 minutes from being a champion not even get a look until now(Seahawks).

I would. He did it for media attention.

It's not at all obvious he's "being blackballed by the owners". Fitzpatrick can be meh in a prototypical NFL offense. Kaep can't go under center and operate within most offenses better than the current crop of back-ups.

If anyone thought they could win with him, he'd be signed as a starter and they'd do like Carolina is trying with Cam. Green Bay's crappy D shut him down the next season early after that SB when he had lit them up on the way to that SB, with a poor roster.

If he could handle 70% of anybody's existing playbook, he'd likely be signed as a back-up.

That really is all there is to it for most of the NFL. I don't doubt that a few have written him off over the politics, but there is no concerted effort as would be implied in the typical use of "black-balled". Sorry. He just belongs in Canada.

When it was a foregone conclusion that they were designing an offense for Johnny Manziel - absolutely.

If you're going with a bad plan, may as well have a contingency that works immediately.

I bet Johnny wishes he had knelt for the anthem, so he could blame his suckitude on something else.

So, if you have an established starter, you have an established offense that Kaep can't run (unless you're maybe Seattle or Carolina), so you don't waste a roster spot on him. Pretty simple.

I'm not arguing that so not sure why you posted this. My point is the evil, backed by left wing shadow government out to destroy America, media isn't going to cause a stink about him not playing over an established starter if he were to sign with someone.

NYC Protest: Standing Up for Colin Kaepernick

Outside NFL headquarters, an unusual scene unfolded at the corner of 51st Street and Park Ave. on Wednesday night. There was a protest on the sidewalk, but that wasn’t the surprising part. Rather, it was the subject of the rally that might have been a first: a player being unsigned.

A crowd of some 50 people gathered around 5 p.m., careful to stand off private property and inside the barricades set up by the NYPD. About a dozen people spoke over the next hour, sharing personal messages and poetry in support of free agent Colin Kaepernick. Among the demonstrators: Etan Thomas, the former NBA center who spoke out against the Iraq War during his playing career; Emerald Snipes, the daughter of Eric Garner, the Staten Island man who died, in 2014, after being placed in a chokehold by police; and the protest’s organizer, Kevin Livingston, whose Queens-based non-profit, 100 Suits, received a surprise donation from Kaepernick last month. You may remember his social media post standing outside a Queens parole center with Kaepernick, who had dropped off two boxes of his own suits for Livingston to distribute to local men recently released from jail, so they could have job-interview attire.

Jay Cutler is a more established QB that Kaepernick, is he being blackballed also?

My exact words were, "If they can pick him up off the scrap heap for next to nothing, I think it would be a great idea.". To compete with the little fool from Texas. That's a pretty strong qualifier that you choose to omit now - because you want to play the azzhole. You've succeeded Well done !

Also as a backup you want a guy who can prepare week in and week out without the reps and be a good, solid teammate. I don't see Kap as a guy who can do that.

1. he didn't stand for the Anthem 2. he's not a very good QB

You don't want to bring in a problem. You've already got problems with some of the guys on your team that you need to win. Backup QB's are quite, keep their heads down and are ready when called upon. Doesn't fit Kaep

I went back and watch a few games of SF ... Kaepernik looked good, but mostly in a zone read offense. When he was asked to play from a "traditional" offense, he struggled.

IMO if he had not done his protest ... he would be on someone's roster
if he was better ... he would be on someone's roster
but because of both, he is not on anybodies roster.

And #3, what does he think he's worth ? Do we know that no one has offered for sure ? If not, has his agent made it known he won't play for less than $_,__,__ ?
