Maumee Valley, Toledo Christian and Cardinal Stritch have the most coming back. Of those 3 Toledo Christian lost the most with Ochoa, but can never count a McWinnie team out.

I'm picking Stritch, then MVCD, then TC.

Holifield, Burton and Anderson are a formidable trio.

Agree they are tough, but so is Jackson, Woodley and Kynard. They averaged 47+ PPG, between them.

Took this from the other TAAC thread;

G PTS AVG
Zeb Jackson, Maumee Valley 20.0
Jaiden Woodley, Maumee Valley 15.4
Joey Holifield, Cardinal Stritch 13.8
Jordan Burton, Cardinal Stritch 12.7
Caleb Kynard, Maumee Valley 11.9

I don't know why I thought Kynard graduated. Old age finally catching up with me I guess...

Both teams will be strong for sure though. I don't know how to feel about MVCDs chances. This is not a knock on the kids at all, especially because I think Woodley has such a big upside, but I just have to put it out there: I question the coaching.

I felt like Zeb wasn't turned loose enough. He is a real weapon and the option of having him at the point distributing, then having him as a scoring point and then moving him to the 2(with Jett at the point), that is a lot for any defense to deal with.

I just don't know what the philosophy of the coach is over there. Again, I am NOT knocking the kids, I'm not into that. I just feel like the use of the talent seemed inconsistent. Maybe it's just me.

MVCD might be able to match Stritch high end talent but there is no way anyone in the TAAC matches Stritch's depth.

Agreed

The determining factor for TC, CS and MV will be coaching and putting players in a position to be successful. Mc Whinnie is has proven to one of the best at this in the area, While coach K has done a remarkable job in a short period of time. MV has yet to show those skills.

Remember its not about beating teams you should beat, its about beating the teams you should'nt.

In terms of height, does Stritch have the most length in the area? I remember seeing their bench last year (JV and Varsity) and being shocked at how long some of their guys were.

TAAC Elite

I got a chance over the weekend to see CS and MV Scrimmage on Friday and
Saturday.

CS is deep and can throw a bunch of different lineups at you. Most importantly they ran good stuff, ball movement and player movement was evident. Watch out for Holifield this year gonna could average some ridiculous numbers like 18pts 6rebs and 6 assist. Kid is unselfish and plays hard.

MV probably had the best talent 1-6 but just like CS ran great stuff, MV was more dribble and 4 out stuff no real purpose to plays or movement. I swear big kid could score but never get the ball on purpose vs. Waite and Springfield. I swear if Jackson doesn't have ball in his hand he doesn't know what to do.

I know its early but from what I saw over the weekend CS is in a better place for a great year due to coaching and depth.

My grandson plays for Clay. What you saw and I saw was two different things. We have won maybe 4 games in 2 years and we had no problem with Stritch. Our guards out played their guards and we were missing our best player/PG.

Saw 3 plays from Stritch, pull up 3 off the dribble, fade away 16 footer off the dribble and Omaha or Kansas followed by the kids name......run kid to the top of the key, rip through for right hand dribble drive into a double team turnover or kick it to the corner for an ugly looking 3 with no rotation.

I was near their bench and I am sorry, but when I hear how disrespectful their coaches are toward our team it pisses me off. They seem to think beating up Northwood and Emmanuel Christian makes them superior to us. Even after we beat them by 20 two years ago in a real game and handled them in this scrimmage.

I will say Stritch looks all world in warm-ups, but you can only play 5 at a time good luck with that.

Somebody must have forgotten the score from the game the year before that one. Stritch won by 20+ and played their JV's the entire 4th quarter...

Sure the Northwood and Emanuel Christian teams are tomato cans but Stritch did beat the two best teams in the NBC last year. Clay got thumped by a mid level NBC team and had a win over a bottom tier NBC team.

Stritch went 5-0 vs the NBC last year beating its best two teams, a midlevel and its two worst teams.

Not one kid on either team played in that game. It is a travesty that Adams didn't get D1 looks though.

Since the season is here and I have a close rooting interest in the results, I am going to "retire" from the TAAC Basketball thread and just enjoy the season.

Good luck to all TAAC teams, except when they play Stritch, stay healthy.

As already mentioned, WTF are you talking about? Clay is down in numbers, size, athleticism, you name it and some overzealous proud grandpappy from Oregon is on here trolling.

Wow that Kool-Aid must be delicious.

One is TAAC the other is TRAC.

Clay looks like they would like to be in the TAAC. Can't say I blame them.

#bigfishsmallpond?

That big fish has managed to run itís way down I-75 twice in the last few years making the Sweet 16. I highly doubt Stritch is concerned at all about the score of the first scrimmage of the year. Thatís the difference in being a perennial contender and a perennial doormat. Stritch isnít going away anytime soon.

Top half of this league will have some very good games against each other. Canít ever count out Gburg and Ottawa Hills due to quality of coaching and systems that have been in place for quite some time. Very excited for the season to tip-off

THAT was mean, talk about WTF. How is it "trolling" to say a team might be "better?" Not that "grandpappy" needs someone to defend but I don't see any disparagment of any other team. Where's the "troll."

We have five posters on a good month. Stop running them off, lol. Be welcoming, like me.

TAAC sounds good at the top this year but what do OH and Gburg have this year? OH usually has size it seems.

Ottawa Hills was not very deep last year and lost their top 2 and maybe 3 guys. They have a couple guys who got time as sophs last year. They will not be big or deep. Gibsonburg has Earnsthausen, but not sure what else. I heard that Northwood has a couple transfers.

Could be two horse race between C.S and TC something strange brewing at MVCDS. Team split between upper class and lower class. Possible losing some top notch talent.

Guy starts account and disparages another team, doesn't sound too credible you know that, right? SOunds like a giuy whose team is getting handled or losing recruits.

You're making a rumor. You have a link to something published? No? Show some class and stick to talent eval, team chances...
