If, say, Bazley went to the Canton Charge and was then a prospect of the Cavs, then the team would have a great interest in getting him ready for the NBA team. However, as it is, even if he lands with the Charge, does the team have the same interest in developing him to prepare him for the draft as it would to prepare him to make the next step to the Cavs' roster?
Not to mention how his teammates will react to some kid "who hasn't paid his dues" coming in and fighting for stats? I could see a coach trying to develop him in hopes of using Darius as an example for a promotion. A lot of variables...

Find it funny the new NBA eSports League guys get paid more than the G League to play video games.

It is definitely a weird thing. Most people are the G-league to make an NBA roster or get a "call up." Bazley will be in the G-league to get stats and nothing more. He won't care about winning or getting a call up from the big league team because he can't. It's just a dumb situation all around and it makes no sense.

Irish made a good point: will that team have any interest in developing him and giving him minutes knowing that they (probably) won't be able to draft him anyways? Especially if he lands on a G-league team with a really good NBA parent (Warriors, Cavs, etc) that won't have a high draft pick. Might as well be playing NBA2K trying to just accummulate stats......

Bad decision to go to the G-League. The media hypes up stars in college basketball, he will get more exposure and be known in college. G-League, Im not sure is ever reported on ESPN or in the media. Nobody will know if he scores 2 points or 20 points.

Not to mention he goes to college for not even 1 semester, gets any college chicks he wants, free shoes, free gear, free housing, free food, and gets to be a king. Could have been a top 10 pick in the draft, now??

Will see if it was a bad decision. The reason he did this was to help him to prepare for the NBA not to make ESPN highlights.

The NBA scouts and execs will know how he does. And who is to say that if he can hold his own against the older players in the G-League that it won't do more for his draft stock than if he played for a top college program. I know little about the young man, but I am rooting for him!

Bazley signed with Lebron James and Ben Simmons agent yesterday. I wonder if there is a signing bonus

Yes, the bonus is he now has to pay them 4% of his playing contract and 10-20% of any endorsements Bazley were to sign. Not eligible for a signing bonus from the D League so would only get one if he makes the NBA.

The G-League teams definitely have incentive to invest in Bazley. His success helps the league overall. What would be better for the league than to see a high school player blossom? Although Bazley is not a huge name, if he plays well and becomes a lottery pick, it further legitimizes the league as a competitor for high school talent. Maybe a few years down the road, instead of getting the Bazley's of the world, the D-League is attracting ticket magnets like Zion Williamson.

You're right, the G-League would like to see him do well and attract all the attention they can. The problem is the team he plays for doesn't really have a reason to develop him since chances are high he wouldn't be in the same organization if he get's drafted to the NBA. Also you'd have to be crazy if you think guy's who are fighting for a roster spot are going to go out of their way to develop Bazley and take away stats from them so he can be a lottery pick.
