St Vincent St Mary exposed with this recruiting video

As a supporter of a public that has seen his kids knocked out of the playoffs the past 3 seasons by a parochial (Hoban '15, '16 and Hartley '17) I should be outraged by this...but I'm not. Looks like a private training strength/conditioning session to me. Happens everywhere. I've come to the conclusion that our kids just need to work harder and get better as a whole, not just a handful of them, to try and stay on par. If this situation contains any real substance or violations then I hope it's handled accordingly, but not sure there's anything here.

Seeing that a lot of people do not care for the Akron catholic high schools. Geez, I wonder why?

Is that a svsm rule?

I only saw two kids in the video. Did I miss something?

Taking issue with a given behavior, a competitive dynamic, or an isolated incident does not constitute a general disdain among intelligent folks.

No surprise that this fact escapes an SEC honk

Hoban, St V's, and Walsh are fine schools.

That's a rule for private schools. They normally don't allow athletes to interact or use facilities until acceptance letters are mailed

Not talking about the schools in general. Talking about athletics

I know for a fact that isn't a rule for all private schools.

Here is a video showing two 8th grade football players . One from Ravenna and one from Woodridge being trained at STV by their strength coach. Is this their process to bring kids into their football program? I guess we will see what the OHSAA has to say about this. Im so tired of this school taking our players and no one does anything about it. This has to be a MAJOR violation.
So now you're tellin on the kids. Because of the neighborhood School inability to keep them? What does your neighborhood school have to offer and why are they leaving?

I make no attempt to separate athletic programs from their respective institutions. They are essentially the "face" of these schools to the community at large

This post is reaching. You made an assumption off an instagram post. The guy is the STVM trainer for all athletics. He is also a personal trainer at a separate facility in Green where he works with all kids including college and a few local NFL players. He is one of 2 or 3 qualified trainers in the city of Akron who doesnt overcharge kids to workout. As much as I hate to admit this his STV job has allowed him to do a lot pro bono work in the city free of charge.

Judging from the looks on those two kids faces after pushing that thing up and down the weight room I would say neither one of them seemed likely to want to continue in that workout program!!! They looked gassed to me. All time backfire if that's a recruiting ploy.

The big thing that I saw in the video that struck me was the reminder of this being a start of new year and I need to get on a treadmill! Well that and I how much I hated doing those type of offseason workouts back in the day!

Seriously, I didn't think there was anything wrong with those kids getting some off season training and conditioning. It's better than having them sit in front of their phones or TV at home doing nothing. I know the strength and conditioning coach, and he is one of the few high school trainers who has the proper certifications and knowledge to help kids. He also isn't the type who takes advantage of parents by over charging and promising scholarships based off of his training. The cost to rent gym space and train kids is terrible, he probably has a deal set up with St.V so he can put a little extra spending cash in his pockets.

We live in oh the rules surrounding high school sports are atrocious and outdated BUT if it's deemed an advantage for the Irish I believe something will be done. Free or not. If he has access to another facility after hours that's where he should be no need to toy with a kids eligibility because you want to save a couple dollars

Wait, Lebron isn't Catholic?! So you're telling me he isn't a product of St. Vincent Parish School?

There's a good reason for him to make a move. 1) He is that good 2) Manchester really has no line coming back, he may get killed next year if he stays.

I'm not sure about that. Hettich will be back, as well as a few others. Manchester usually reloads on the offensive line. I haven't heard anything about any of the private schools pushing hard for Wright, though it wouldn't surprise me if they eventually did.
