Mansfield D-2 District Rankings (Regular Season #1)

I love doing these rankings, but as it has been pointed out before, they are just for fun. To any wrestlers who read these and feel that they are ranked too low, you may be right.
I am bound to be wrong on many of the rankings, but fortunately they have absolutely no impact on how anyone will finish at any tournament this season or any other year.

I started moving wrestlers up and down from their previous yearís weights. The new weights are partially based off of where theyíve been wrestling in the off season, though a lot of it is pure guesswork at this time.
Please let me know if anyone has inside information about new weights, schools, or wrestlers that they think should be added.

Iíve tried shifting the wrestlers around from schools that changed divisions. Please let me know if any are wrong, or if Iím forgetting any schools/wrestlers.

* = unsure about participation

-The schools of the incoming freshmen are based off of the previous Yappi thread. Please let me know if any are wrong or have changed.

1. Payton Burgdorf- Firelands (4th state)
2. Jake Manley- Otsego (SQ)
3. Gabe Alda- Bellevue (7th middle school state)
4. Caleb Hernandez- Napoleon (SQ)
5. Tristan Villareal- Defiance
6. Clayton Drummond- St. Maryís Memorial
7. Stephen Tepper- Bay
8. Logan Trumbull- Bowling Green

I dropped Drummond back down to this weight after seeing that his alpha weight was listed at 106.

1. Gavin Ritter- Wauseon (SQ)
2. Jimmy Balazy- Padua (SQ)
3. Anthony Ashley- Buckeye
4. Lincoln Healy- Napoleon
5. Matt Kaufmann- Fairview (6th district)
6. Noah Alda- Bellevue
7. Ty Spencer- Ontario
8. Brandon DíEgidio- Vermillion

Kaufmann, Spencer, and DíEgidio all have an alpha of 113 or above, so Iíve moved them up until I see them make 106.

1. Nolan Ray- Wauseon
2. David Ocasio- Brookside
3. Damoni Williams- Mansfield Sen.
4. Connor Eckman- Firelands
5. Jordan Holt- Perkins (6th district)

5. Luke Beach- Wapakoneta (6th district)
6. Derek Berdysz- Benedictine
7. Brayzin McDaniel- Upper Sandusky
8. Jared Norman- Clyde

I was previously informed that Slattman wasnít wrestling this year, but he is listed among the alphas for Wauseon.

1. Caden Blust- Columbian (8th state)
2. Jarrett Bischoff- Wauseon (6th state)
3. Angel Granados- Napoleon (6th district, SQ 2016)*
4. Jake Bartinelli- Buckeye (SQ 2016)
5. Sam Fender- Padua (6th district)

4. Tim Tusick- Padua
5. Colton Turnbaugh- Ontario
6. Kalin Zuchowsky- Holy Name
7. Zane Hull- Napoleon
8. Kayne Woods- Toledo C.C.

Iím glad to see former middle school state placer Turnbaugh listed among the alphas for Ontario. He should jump right into the mix for state qualification this season.

1. Timothy Grunden- Wauseon (2nd, 3rd state)
2. Michael Clark- Buckeye (SQ)
3. Sam LoFaso- Padua (5th district, 6th district 2016)
4. Calvin Brown- Elida (SQ)

3. Justin Mayes Ė Bellevue (2nd middle school state)
4. Zach Altman- Napoleon (6th district 2016)
5. John McNulty- Padua
6. Derick Coleman- Clyde (5th district)
7. Justin Schneider- Maumee (6th district)
8. Dillon Barry- Bay

McNettís alpha is listed at 160, so Iíve bumped him up from 145.

1. Hunter Yackee- Wauseon (3rd state)
2. Ethan Hernandez- Norwalk (SQ)
3. Lucas Salmon- Perkins (5th district)
4. Nick Jackson- Bowling Green
5. Joey Simcoe- Columbian
6. Izaiah Salinas-Diaz- Defiance
7. Jasharein Holliday- Huron (5th middle school state)
8. Doug Brown- Buckeye

Both Hatlay and Elchert have an alpha weight of 152, so Iíve bumped up Simcoe to 160. He also wrestled at this weight at Preseason Nationals.

1. Noah Clary- Upper Sandusky (SQ)
2. Xavier Torres- Wauseon (SQ)
3. Brahm Ginter- Shelby (7th state)
4. Jarrod Setliff- Buckeye
5. Matt Abraham- Padua
6. Alec Montgomery- Clyde
7. Trevor Boyd- Vermillion
8. Logan Muhlenkamp- Celina

State alternate Stalling and the rest of the Cloverleaf squad has moved to the Alliance District.

1. Justin Ocheltree- Keystone (SQ)
2. Tyler Miller- St. Maryís Memorial
3. Noah Pasquinelli- Maumee
4. Quay Brown- Sandusky
5. Trent Davis- Wauseon
6. Gabe Phillips- Norwalk
7. Evan Kaeck- Wapakoneta
8. Mitchell Dewitt- Upper Sandusky

Brownís alpha is listed as 182, so Iím guessing that heís dropping to this weight after wrestling 195 last year (teammate Hunter is listed at 195).

1. Matthew Cover- Bay (SQ)
2. David McCullough- Keystone (5th district, 6th district 2016)

Both Vega and Arnett are listed at 220 for their alpha weights, so Iíve bumped them each up a weight.

1. Brandon Phillips- Maumee (2nd state)
2. Tyler Bath- Vermilion (SQ)
3. Noah Arnett- Defiance
4. Samuel Sosa- Wauseon
5. Nathan Barnett- Buckeye (2nd middle school state)
6. Eric Adkins- Bath
7. Korey Blosser- Napoleon
8. Jerrell Wells- Sandusky

1. Demarko Craig- Toledo C.C. (7th state)

8. Kindal Bustillos- Columbian

1. Wauseon
2. Padua
3. Napoleon
4. Buckeye
5. Defiance
6. Columbian
7. Maumee
8. Firelands

Iím glad to see that Slattman will be wrestling for Wauseon. Heíll have a solid shot at ending his senior season with a trip to the state tournament, and he could potentially help his team to a dual meet state title with Graham wrestling D-1 in the dual portion of the tournament.
It looks like Wauseon will have a number of wrestlers up in weight from the last set of rankings (per Boro Fanís rankings) which should make their line-up even more formidable. Barajas, Grunden, and Torres all move up a weight from their previous ranking. The surprise was Yackee who is now listed at 160 after wrestling 132 last year.

I was informed that Benedictine and Cleveland C.C. would be moving into this district while Cloverleaf would be moving to the Alliance District. That could open up a few weights here with the departure of wrestlers like state placer Cass and state alternate Stallings.

Columbian slides down a bit with state alternate Houdashell reportedly moving out of state.

A special thanks to Boro Fan for all the insight into the weights of the wrestlers, Baumís Page and Jakeís Wrestling for all of the results that they provide, and to any of the other wrestling nerds that actually read these things.

Hatlay for Columbian lost his wrestle off to Jacob Anderson at 152. Anderson went 2-2 as a sophomore at districts but did not wrestle last year, he is a name to watch as the season progresses. Hatlay is eventually going to be at 138.

Thanks for the update. I'll move them around for the next set of rankings.
