Huber Heights Wayne 2016 Schdule

Huber Heights Wayne

August 26, 2016 H Philadelphia Archbishop Wood PA
Sep 2, 2016 H Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller
Sep 9, 2016 A West Chester Lakota West
Sep 16, 2016 A Miamisburg
Sep 23, 2016 H Clayton Northmont
Sep 30, 2016 A Centerville
Oct 7, 2016 H Beavercreek
Oct 14, 2016 H Kettering Fairmont
Oct 21, 2016 A Springfield
Oct 28, 2016 H Trotwood-Madison

I have been somewhat reticent about commenting on the Huber Heights Wayne 2016 regular season schedule. Mostly because I have mixed feelings about it.

This unusually tough schedule to open the season coupled with the move to Region III with the central Ohio schools certainly gives me reason to pause. Frankly, I believe the region change provides the Warriors a somewhat easier path to the regional championship but this schedule certainly makes it more difficult to qualify for the tournament.

First, they open the season with a Philadelphia team that won the Pennsylvania State Championship three out of the last four years and was the Eastern division champion the fourth year.

The next week, they host the always tough Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller, a team that will have revenge on its mind.

Following that, they will visit those pesky Lakota West Firebirds in West Chester.

After running that gauntlet, the Warriors has to travel south to deal with the ever-improving Miamisburg Vikings before they enter conference play where they still have to deal with their archrival Centerville.

Finally, they close the regular season by hosting the truculent Trotwood-Madison Rams.

Some may call this schedule daunting; others will say it is a formidable opportunity. I say it is downright scary.

Was looking up Archbishop Wood and their program; really a team that has risen and done very well the past 8 years. They don't produce a lot of legit DI talent, lots of players go to college however http://www.woodfootball.org/vikings-in-college.html

I predict Wayne goes 8-2 including a loss to Moeller

I certainly wish I could share your optimism but this Philadelphia team makes me nervous. Couple that with Archbishop Moeller revenge motivation and Wayne could open the season 0-2.

In addition, although the Warriors have several key positions returning with experience, the quarterback is still an unknown. However, I know there are several very good athletes competing for the position.

Even further, Trotwood-Madison, Centerville and Miamisburg on the schedule does nothing to calm my nerves. 8-2? I just hope we can qualify for the playoffs.

Wayne should have no trouble with ArchBishop Wood of PA. More like an Ohio division III school. Wayne will be too big for them. Wayne by 3 TDs or more.

If Dayton Wayne loses to Wood, they should probably just shut down the program.

Miamisburg will be very good this year IMO. Strong and disciplined offense coming back. Need to shape up the defense though. Cville doesn't worry me and Trotwood should be a fun game.

Small correction, Wood is 3 out of the last 5 years.[ 11', 12' 14']
They are D3 by OHSAA standards

Agreed. I cannot wait to see how Blue Smith develops this season. Just watching him in that game against Moeller last year....I mean wow. Kid has a bright future.
