Cincinnati Area Districts - Official Thread

Tuesday - 14 May

From what has been posted on Baumspage so far in the last hour or so, it looks like the New Richmond D2 field events and the D3 running qualifications are today? Can someone confirm that info?

FYI - Ignore GHG Timing's listing of "meet records" on his live results website. They have obviously not been updated in umpteen zillion years. Refer to SWOTCCCA's website. I just looked at the 100mH prelims for girls' D3...lists Brittany Wood from 2003 with a 15.57. That was a manually-timed 15.6, not an FAT 15.57. Also, the meet best after 2018 was 15.63 FAT by Jazmin Smith (NCH) from 2013, and the LEGAL meet record was 17.04 (+0.3) from Alexia Bond's (Finneytown) 2018 run.

NEW RECORD ALERT
- 15.42 (+0.6) in heat #1 by Mackenzie Hartman (frosh-Seven Hills)

Just checked the 100m prelims (girls) - again, listing Michelle McGruder's 1986 12.2 MT as if it were FAT! Can someone FORCE GHG to amend their records to reflect the TRUE records?

Obviously, GHG doesn't bother to check their records department at all. The listed 4x200m girls' record (D3) is 1:47.16 by NCH in 2013 (heat 2 of the prelims). This, despite the fact that Summit Country Day won the 2018 version in 1:46.41...with GHG doing the timing! Good grief!

Ross?

Do we know where we can find heat sheets for the Ross district meet? Isn't the meet today?

Some obvious lying from certain coaches and programs.

Not only in Cincinnati but throughout the entire state.

When will the state leave baumspage.com and go to a verified timing source?

Blame me. Will be corrected by the end this week's districts. I've already got yesterday's additions made to D2 & D3 files.

Quick update on Wednesday's action:

Mason
* Both 4x800 records go down! 2 Boys' teams under the old best.
* Decent girls' HJ - 5' 6", Decent Boy's PV - 14' 4"
* SHORTEST winning boy's discus throw (142' 10") in that district since 1957!!! before the split of the meet into what is today's Mason & Ross meets.
* Madi Person looks set to win both hurdles handily on Friday.

Ross
* 100/200 - Serena Clark lowers both district records with 11.86/24.62 legal clockings.
* 400 - Danni Stoughton just 0.4 seconds off meet record 400m (56.52) with her prelim.
* 4x100 - Lakota East lowers their record to 47.54 in their heat.
* 4x200 - Lakota East FINALLY takes down the 1987 record (1:42.7 MT) of that great Sycamore team of Nicole Berry, Chanda Titus, Tyra Noble, & Christie Arnold with LE's 1:40.78 heat win. Many had tried, but that 1987 relay team was TOO STRONG until today.

* 100 - Rodney Heath lowers the LEGAL meet record to 10.82 with his heat win.
* PV - Another Dirr family win with Casey's 14' 4" win. Mt. Healthy's Justin Abrams has 2 more chances to take down the long-time Mt. Healthy record of 15' 1" set by David Rimmer in winning the 1966 State Class AA title.

Was at the Mason district meet tonight, did not see a wind gauge for the long jump, but did see a gauge for the sprint prelims. It was definitely a bit breezy out there.

Something else I found interesting, the top 8 finishers in the 1600 and the 800 advanced to the finals in each heat, regardless of time. Don't remember this being the case in the past.

Mason has yet to have had a wind gauge in their meet history. Hopefully in 2020!

Mason has a West-to-East long jump alignment, thus taking advantage of prevailing winds. Frequently windy.

That has been the rule for the last few years. It makes total sense. Separate equally be best times. Then let the good kids just do an easy threshold for 2 or 4 laps.

District disparity.
Something has to be done. Some great kids are staying home. Most states do some at large berths. It needs to get fixed.

Cincinnati Area Girls' District Records (all divisions) - Updated thru Division I after Tuesday thru Friday's results - See attached file.

10 New records so far this week

Mason Girls D1
4x800 - 9:09.60 Mason
800 - 2:11.39 Maddie Ullom (Mason) - 3 girls under 2:13!!!
PV - 12' 2" Haleigh Eckert (Mason) EQUALS meet record from 2006 by Little Miami's Melissa Beerse.

Ross Girls D1
100/200 - Serena Clark lowers both records again to 11.74 & 24.40
4x200 - 1:40.22 LE
4x1 - Clark anchors LE's 46.94 record.

New Richmond D2

None

New Richmond D3
100H - 15.42 Mackenzie Hartman (Seven Hills)
SP - 38' 7" Yvonne Colson (Madeira) lowers the 21-year old record (37' 4 1/2") set by former Madeira great Brandy Davis.
DT - 130' 3" !!!! Colson twice ups the 35-year old record (119' 2") by Clinton-Massie's Rhea Aker. FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oldest Meet Record on the books is now the D2 discus by the late Dawn DeHart (Loveland), 139' 5", from 1983. As a fellow '83 grad, it is still difficult for me to know she's no longer with us. We threw in numerous meets together during the early 80s.

I agree. We've had this discussion on here in the past couple years, and I'm glad to see some movement by OHSAA on this issue in a few events. I do like, however, a greater at-large, tough qualifying mark entry into the regional level. I think that would help tremendously.

Whenever I see this picture of Dawn DeHart, I always wonder how she threw the discus so far. Scroll down to page 44 of this file to see Dawn DeHart.

She was taller and had nice levers. She also had a good coach & worked hard.

Indian Hill senior Anna Podojil looks to be recovered from the ACL tear that cost her the entire 2018 season, improving on her Cincy #2 400 status with a 54.78 at New Richmond DII District. She also won the 100(12.55) and 200(25.30 into a big 2.9 headwind).

Not sure that Dayeesha Hollins 53.90 is attainable, but Podojil has much better speed so it will be interesting to see how much more she has over the next couple of weeks.
