Tre Tucker

Damn shame they did not have a wind gauge at Woodridge. 10.41 is damn fast.

CoventryTrackXCguy is an unknown quantity at this point
Tre Tucker is gonna be regional champion in the long jump. Then Coventry's Jimmy Painter and Austin Hinzman are gonna get 2nd and 3rd. You heard it from here first.

There was a slight headwind all day. The weather history at Underground Weather shows a NE wind of ~9-10 mph. The track sits in a low area. I don't think it was that strong at the track, but what was there was a head wind.

Unfortunately for him, in the world of track & field statistics no wind gauge = wind-aided.

Are you making this up?

I've never heard that "not wind legal" is equivalent to "wind aided".

Mr. Slippery will become famous soon enough
I was going to mention this performance a few days ago, but I knew what the reaction would be.

I was there, too. Tucker was definitely not being aided by any wind, but I get what JAV is saying in that the performance has about as much merit for state record purposes as a wind-aided performance. No wind gauge = not eligible for major records. To Jeff Howard's credit as the co-announcer of the meet, he immediately acknowledged the fact that Tucker's time would not count as a state record since there was no wind gauge. Howard stated that it was a fast time and that Tucker is clearly well-positioned to perform well in the tournament or something like that.

Tucker is fast, but FWIW, by the end of the meet, I was consistently producing hand times for my athletes that were slower than the FAT times that were being posted. IIRC, Woodridge uses Eagle Eye as its FAT package. Psycho_dad could tell you more since he timed the meet.

I had Tucker at 10.22 on my watch standing at the finish line. 1 of his coaches nearby had him at 10.27. I'm a decent hand timer, but I'm not good enough that I'd be less than .2 sec. on a 100m dash while standing at the finish line.

Once again though, the bottom line though is that Tucker is fast! He's rather handy at the long jump, too. It was a treat to watch him perform on Saturday.

Hope the kid is able to reproduce such a fast reading under legal circumstances with a wind gauge present & recording.

Also, State Record in a strictly HS race is Saine's 10.38 (+1.6) from the Don Mitchell/Roosvelt Memorial on 6 May 2006.

All-time best is a triplet of 10.38 clockings by Jonathan Burrell in 1993 at the USATF Jr. & Pan-Am Jr. meets. The one at the USTAF Jr. was with a 3.0 mps HEADWIND!

I like his chances. In my perfect world he runs track in the spring and that Coach Fickel at UC encourages it.

Interesting that you mention Coach Fickel. He is related to a well-known former Ursuline Academy track & field standout of the past.

Can anyone name the connection? Anyone?
