Week 8 Massie vs Goshen.... showdown in the SBAAC

On paper looks like a great game. Any thoughts?

Next few weeks will be different games, No more easy one. Massie needs shut down defense! Falcons need to dominate as they head into the playoffs.

I'll take CM 35 to 21. Looking forward to Goshen actually being tested. How will they respond to adversity? This game will give Goshen a good taste of what Week 11 is like.

Massie big...again. The only team left that will be prepared for the amount of physicality that massie brings will be Wilmington and they are without their dudes. Massie will coast to week 11. Again im sure the Goshen fans will disagree and Ill eat my crow if I'm wrong but I see running clocks all the way through.

If Goshen falls behind early, I don't like their chances. Have the Goshen starters played a full 4 quarters all year?

Like I posted before, how will they respond to a deficit? How will they respond to a pressure situation in the 4th quarter? These are questions that remain unanswered for a very talented, yet untested Goshen team.

Goshen just beat wilmington 56-0. Massie may be too much for the Warriors pulling away late

Goshen has played one team with a winning record...Hillsboro...and Hillsboro's 2 losses were against the only 2 teams they've played with winning records. Kudos to Goshen for being 7-0, but they haven't been on the field with anyone like CM. I agree...another running clock starting the 3rd qtr...and I'll be surprised if it isn't.

Looking at film it looked like their qb (who is their backup already) got concussed. He was at least wobbly after a run...being colorblind is a real SOB and wilmingtons color combo makes it hard to see #s so Im assuming they ended up with a 3rd string qb. Plus not having the starter at qb and beaugard to begin with

Check that i dont see Ames in the 2nd half...if thats the case no wonder they couldnt score! Thats literally their top 3 weapons out...BTW where was strunk on the first series?

Goshen is having a nice season and had the Falcons not joined the conference this year, could be on pace to win a conference crown.

But this will be the toughest game they will have played this season by a mile.

Biggest question is will Goshen's defense stay disciplined and resilient getting hit play after play with Massie's punishing ground game? It is designed to wear you mentally and physically and I think the Warriors will succumb to it.

It could be a pretty good game after Q1 but I think by halftime the Falcons will be up at least 2 TDs and the running clock starts shortly after the band have performed.

Massie 49 Goshen 7

Game will be broadcast on WALHRADIO.COM Can be heard on computer, smart phone, and tablets. Ryan Hosch will call the play-by-play, and Roger Barber will handle the color.

Pre game at 6:30, kick off 7 PM. Both teams 7-0, looking for a good one, and computer points for the winner.

After a few test hits through the first quarter, it will get ugly. Massie will have a running clock and Goshen will have hanging heads. They have not faced a machine like this. If its not 30, its 6. If not 6 its 35. Then 2 hits you with a deep ball and the defense is defeated.

Ive come away more impressed with massies defense than I have their O. Im curious to see how goshens O will handle being pushed around for the first time this year. And I dont see a way Strunk can tote it 25+ times like they want him to in big games.

Giving Strunk the ball 25 times against that defense may not be the best decision for his health.

Got to agree. Massie: size strength and commitment to the weight room will be be the difference. 3 or 4 TDs difference

No disrespect to Massie but there's a lot of people that think Goshen is 7-0... by chance? I know their schedule isn't that strong, but they've done exactly what they should have on it, dominated the competition. Minus Coldwater (who is in their most down year in probably the last 10)... Massie hasn't played anyone that's out of this world. Obviously their history carries a lot and their experience in big games could be a difference but Goshen is as big/strong as anyone. Their offensive line is: 6'3 280, 6'4 370, 5'9 250, 6'2 260 and 6'4 225 and their defensive line isn't small either with their DTs being 5'10 250 and 6'0 265. I do recall that Massie used to get a huge strike against them for their schedule but that didn't seem to phase them. Of course, those days a behind them since they made it to the top of the mountain.

These same kids played in a JV game a couple years back and Massie was victorious 22-13. Obviously I don't think JV football from 2 years ago will show the exact results but I say that because Goshen is definitely a program on the rise who has been working constantly.

I also wouldn't doubt Strunk. Kid is a gamer. He's only at 99 carries on the season when last year he was at 244 at then end of week 10, I'm sure he can handle the workload.

I'm excited. I think this could be a very good football game for both teams and I mean that. Goshen is a community who wants nothing more than to have an outstanding football team. I think the players, coaches and community realize you cannot get to the top without playing some big dogs... Wilmington was supposed to be that first test but due to the circumstances, I wouldn't exactly count it as such. Hopefully, this turns into a marque game for both schools for a number of years.

I think you are on point. Should be a good game and prolly much closer than we think. Hopefully no injuries on either side or bad calls by the zebras. I think the Massie team has the experience to prevail. They have improved since week 3 imo especially on offense. The defense is on a roll so far no team has been able to run on them and d backs have gotten better each week. They will hit Goshen hard that's for sure. Can the Warriors take it for 4 quarters? That's why they play the games. I agree this should be a great contest every year.
