There is one statistic that matters. One.

On the winning side, you win by 2, you didn't dominate anyone. On the losing side, "the better team didin't win" is nonsense. Other than forfeits, this has happened zero times in history, by definition.

I agree Orange is a bit better than Olentangy and Coffman for that matter would be a small fav over Rocks no question That was wasn't really the point of these few posts , this guy wanted to tell us that his team aced the mid term exam with an 86 . He passed it and did very well but didn't ace it. That essay he screwed up in the first part cost him an A. He wants the professors toniverlook that part one flub and give him the A + anyway . We said no. Your test was a B +
First part counts

QCB -- I don't think anyone is arguing that the Braves were better or should have won the game. What was being contested was the suggestion that it was only close because Orange turned the ball over and the Braves benefitted from short fields or break-aways

While it may be true that all their points came from either long plays or after turnovers, the statistics don't suggest it was as one-sided as Cosmo Kramer suggests.

I've never seen a team be utterly dominated and still register 20 first downs in a game. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened () But it has never happened in a game I've seen.

Well.... I hope the lads are finished with their spat. Shall we return to football? Or would any of the squires, cape-holders, and minions like to join the verbal joust? This horse is F'ing dead.

Braves play Pats tomorrow night. Far more interesting.

Orange's running game looks pretty strong. Very productive. O line is very effective creating lanes.

The hard hitting Orange D is doing a lot of arm tackling, as noted by the Football Professor Jeff Logan.

D. Boone -- everyone was talking football. If you meant to suggest moving on to this week's games , point taken. But don't suggest that people weren't talking football. Good day.

Yes, I suppose if you want to dumb your analysis down to the level of high school dropout meatheads, then this is one approach you could take in analyzing what happened during a game.

Others of us prefer to actually understand how good the teams really are (or aren't) despite what the scoreboard or stat sheet shows so that we have a better idea of what likely outcomes are in future games.

Orange's D was a little lackadaisical early on tonight. Last week Houston was just destroying people out there and the secondary was also hitting very hard. They did enough to control the game obviously, but they seem to not care about yardage in between the 20s. That may come back to haunt them in the playoffs, we'll see.

150 yards sounds like a lot to give up to a back, but when he only has 1TD all that really means is that their team was working with long fields all night and couldn't cash them in. 80 yards and 3 TDs is a better output than 150yards and 1.

Obviously Orange has some material to work with on defense , a very good unit that will take a good solid offense with good schemes to move the ball on. WESTY C was about what I thought they would be and what I saw two months ago in the Coffman scrimmage . They have some athletes on offense and their QB can throw it a bit.

They also have trouble defending the run , Coffman's Cam Scott ran the ball real well in about a quarter and a half until he got his bell rung and came out , that scrimmage was notable because that's when Drennan went down and has been down for " gulp" TWO MONTHS now , so he was gone early in that one seeing no action but Scott ran the ball well on them was the point they had trouble stopping power run game . Orange was very impressive on the ground and impressive overall bouncing back well off their big win , not much let down if any that I could tell . Didn't watch 48 minutes of action , but saw enough. orange covered the spread which I thought , I think I had it by one less score margin

Controlling field position is something good teams do and if you are strong in that area , it really helps the defense because even good football teams have trouble driving 80 yards without making mistakes , penalties, turnovers , and stalling,. Of course that's going against good defenses . Field position advantages often is a big factor in determining the outcome when evenly matched teams play .

Welp.

Been trying to tell you guys all year that LCO is the 3rd best Olentangy, but all anyone wants to do is argue about it. Once again, outplayed on both sides of the ball, but this time their opponent did not provide them any gifts and Liberty never looked back after taking a 2 score lead early in the 3rd quarter.

Olentangy is not a team capable of manufacturing drives against above average teams. They have to score on on a giant/fluke play, or receive a short field due to a turnover or special teams play. If you make them start on their side of the field the whole game, they cant win. (unless they are playing a tomato can, we are talking against playoff caliber teams here).

We will see if Orange is up for the mental task of beating Liberty next week. They have the players to do it, but they have to execute and avoid the gifts they gave LCO. If they do that against Liberty, they will lose.

Region 2 playoff standings are going to be very interesting as well

Not so fun fact: The past 4 years, Westerville North has last to South by 3 points, 1 point, 7 points, and 7 points. 4 losses by a combined 18 points.

Its gonna feel good when they finally break though.

Battle of 256 will be a big one this week. All signs point to Pick Central being comfortably favored, but this will be their 4th big game in a row following Gahanna, and then 2 huge tough rivalry games against Lancaster and Pick North which were genuine slugfests.
