GCL Coed 2017

Who are the top teams and players from the GCL Coed this season?
Last year's standings were:

North:
1. Fenwick
2. CJ
3. Carroll
4. Alter

Central:
1. McNick
2. Badin
3. Roger Bacon
4. Purcell Marian

The conference seems to get deeper every year.

No way badin doesn't win the central this year tho second place and a trip to the state finals is a pretty good year most anywhere.
Fenwick and CJ will battle for the north. The Falcons return two good senior arms in Nix and Maier as well as Eastern Michigan signee Kauffman in the infield.

I agree. McNicholas had a great season but lost quite a bit to graduation. They should give Badin a battle, but I see the Rams pulling it out.

In the North, you said it. CJ should have the significant majority back from a team that gave the league title a run before falling flat both games against Fenwick late. Fenwick had a lot of graduations but should reload enough to make this tight. A toss up.

Ryan Peltier is going to have a breakout season, heard rumors of interest from Butler, UC, Miami.

Watched the fenwick talawanda game tonight. The Falcons were an out away from being no hit. The braves hit the #8 hitter and the 9 hitter hits a dribbler to third which was thrown away allowing the runner to score from first and the Falcons add two doubles win 4-1. Will Maier picked up his second win of the young season with a complete game allowing only an unearned run. Felt bad for kid from Talawanda, he deserved a better fate.
Also saw that Badin lost to defending DII state champ Defiance 8-0. I believe I had seen that they didn't score in eleven innings against Cov Cath on Monday as well. Lots of new dudes in the Ram lineup. Have to think they will get it figured out. Saw that Defiance was hammered by Moe 12-4 on Tuesday in a battle of the Helds.
Looks like the league will be another fun year.

The mighty Badin Rams have struggled with the bats in the early going, scoring 1 run in 30 innings of baseball. You gotta think all that off-season work in the cages will kick in soon

Alter being good is good for the league. They have always had some players. Looks like the schedules are really gonna get backed up due to the weather.

Agreed, Alter being good is good for the league. They are definitely better then in years past so far but it is early. Team is senior heavy which is good but all 4 teams in the GCL North should battle each other well. CJ has their top pitchers back. Fenwick is gonna contend again. Carroll maybe young but don't sleep on them.

CJ is very talented with their top arms back. Once they start to get the bats going they will be very tough to beat.

Fenwicks top hitters are just now starting to get it going. Pitching has been solid all year. Look for Fenwick to go on a nice little run.

CJ 6-3 over the mighty Rams. Nice win by the Eagles. Looks like the Rams have shuffled the line-up around a bit, from an observer I think this team lacks a little grit and toughness. They appear to be playing scared (not sure why?). It will be interesting to see if the ship gets corrected in the next few weeks.

Now why in the world would the native's be restless? They were in the state finals one year ago!
They will still win the league which would make something like 99 out of 100. Beside the two games with McNicholas they have a pretty soft remaining league schedule. I don't think the Rams have finished under .500 since the late 80's as well. Can't see that happening as well. I don't see anyone in southwest Ohio in DII that is a powerhouse so they can still make their traditional tourney run. They appear to have a tremendous pitching staff, the hitting will come around.
Plus they have those 17 adorable uniform combinations with the cute stirrups.
Its all about being positive. I read on facebook that the moms think the kids are overthinking the game.
I look for two wins over Alter and the Rams will be on their way.

D-2 SW Ohio is actually very good this season. Handful of teams in Cincinnati alone that I would feel comfortable picking to beat Badin in a 1 game head to head.

There is no doubt there are Cincy programs that can beat Badin. However they know as Badin knows it will be a difficult chore. This is their head coach's seventh season and they have been knocked out of tourney prior to the regionals one time with two trips to the final four .No program in DII in sw Ohio has that pedigree. Their schedule is loaded for that exact reason.
More than likely they will have to beat CJ or Fenwick just to get to the districts. Ross with House on the mound is also very good. In fact the ram on ram matchup in the tourney would be great baseball. Best of luck to all. Flat out love me some HS tourney baseball.

The Maroon Rams and the Real Rams may give us a tourney preview on April 29th at Joyce Park. Glad the 2 schools have rekindled their rivalry....good for the community IMO.

You are correct, Badin's pitching has been pretty solid in their first 13 games. Hitting and defense have been their issues. You're likely correct in your assessment that they get it turned around, until then the natives will likely remain restless.

The dark horse in all of this will be Batavia/New Richmond come tourney time. Probably have the 2 best arms along with House in D-2 SWO.

The Dayton sectional will send three teams to the district finals. Who will get the at present time 5-8 Badin Rams?
Oak wood 14-3, Franklin 11-2, Ross 13-3, Waynesville 11-2, Eaton 11-5, Madison 11-5, Monroe 8-5, Fenwick 9-4 and CJ at 9-2 who already has two wins over the Rams and just got their game their number one arm back yesterday. Should be a great tourney. Good luck to all. Tipp has a nice club this year as well.
